Guest Frankish Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 (edited) My Omnia should come tomorrow. It's on T-Mobile and if this phone is anything like their other ones i will want to remove the branding. What OFFICIAL ROM should i use and where should i get it from? Would i have problems going from a T-Mobile one to an unbranded one? Other than my MMS settings? EDIT: Oh and would it be a big mistake to use Vista to upgrade it? Would i NEED to use XP? I wouldn't want to brick it. Edited November 16, 2008 by Frankish

Hi Frankish, It took me a long while to pluck up the courage to flash my UK T-mobile ROM after reading all the posts on Flashing problems and Monhan's etc. I then went ahead and flashed with the following lite ROM : http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-r...lashlite3-1-uc/ Worked first time. I wiuld not recommend Vista as the majority of the problems seemed to emanated from there although there were a few success stories. I had a new laptop, freshly installed version of XP Pro with service pack 3. Installed active Sync from Microsoft's website, Installed the modem driver (VERY IMPORTANT) Downloaded the above ROM, synced my Omnia with Laptop to make sure there were no connection problems and active sync was working. Double clicked on ROM exe file, followed instructions on screen after switching phone off and on to get into boot loader mode when asked to do so. Make sure if you go ahead with updating that your phone and laptop battery are fully charged. And the last part - Update ROM at you own risk as no one can be held responsible if things do go wrong which hopefully they should not. Edited November 16, 2008 by HasC
Guest Frankish Posted November 16, 2008 Report Posted November 16, 2008 Hi, thanks for taking the time to reply i appreciate it. I'm not sure what i would lose by installing a Lite ROM like that. That's why i was enquiring about official. But who knows i may end up wanting a cooked LITE ROM like that once i get using the phone. Currently installing XP on an old USB HDD i have lying around so i can flash with that. Better to be safe than sorry!
Guest Frankish Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 So any ideas on what i have to do for a latest ROM with English in it?
Guest HasC Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 So any ideas on what i have to do for a latest ROM with English in it? There are no official English UK ROMS out yet if you want to flash an official UK English ROM, you will have to wait until one becomes available. Just as a side note, all the newer ROMSs on this site seem to improve battery performance and screen sensitivity and all the T-Mobile branding has now gone, for me that was the main reason to update. I have not had any troubles so far.

Improved battery life would be good. The missus has had hers for 1 day and is moaning about it already.
