Guest samHDS Posted November 17, 2008 Report Posted November 17, 2008 Hi guys. My omnia freezes after it wakes up. some times it even shut down. I am using firmware J1. Has it got to do wif S2u2? some times when it wakes, it will freeze for 5 secs, then move for 1 sec, and the process repeat. i will have to manually reset the phone. Some times right after a phone call, i left it idle for awhile, it will auto shut down. What are causing all these problems? any one encounter them? help needed. Thanks.
Guest finaldestiny Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 is it 'shutting down" or just going into sleep mode? In sleep the screen will blank and the power the device is consuming will be cut tremendously. To wake it simply press the power button for a brief second.
Guest samHDS Posted November 18, 2008 Report Posted November 18, 2008 most of the time it gets some what like hang. like when from sleep mode. i press a button, it will delay 5 seconds for it to wake up. and when it starts, there will be a 5 sec delay, and 1 sec the device continue working. it keeps repeating nonstop.. so it is impossible to use or even to off it from the power button. i will have the do a manual soft reset. any idea what is causing this?

I'm also running into the same problem once or twice a day. My firmware is DXHH3, btw.
Guest durex Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 I'm also running into the same problem once or twice a day. My firmware is DXHH3, btw. I'm having this problem too and it's cause but some software I think. After un-installing it, my phone don't hang anymore. 2 of the software tat causes my Omnia to hang is S2U2 and TouchPal, I'm on HJ1. Can anyone clarify it?

I've the same problem, but no TouchPal installed. Since this behavior happens very rare on my Omnia, I did not care - and I did not find an alternative for s2u2... joho
Guest Persia Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 yes i have this problem and i think it depends to my wisbar advanced 3.3a i think it depends to ur installed theme tools like that for toolbar,taskbar,.....even spb...
Guest gentoo52 Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Hey! I have the same problem. I have an Omnia i900v (Vodafone Edition) from Austria, and got this "stand by freeze bug" with the original firmware, the first official firmware update for Austria, Passoas MD203 and MD204 with different rates of occurence. I can say that the more software I installed, the more frequent the freeze occurred. Wisbar 3 Advance and WKTask had especially had a bad influence on this. The bug appears more seldom with less vibration/notification alerts (which has apparently something to do with the amount of calls/whatever for/from device.exe). This bug is well known in the german forum http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/samsung_i900...re_and_bug.html , but I didn't find much info on it here on Modaco. Maybe there is something in the 1000+ posts to MD203, MD204 topics, but i didn't read them all, and I didn't find anything with the forum search. I wonder whether this has to do with a certain hardware version/configuration, or certain software installed. I also use TouchPal, but I don't see how it can have an adverse effect when it isn't loaded (onscreen)??? I don't think even if TouchPal runs in the background that it can "stall" the Omnia simply by being loaded - because why would TouchPal, e.g. use CPU so that no other process can be executed in an reasonable amount of time? This bug is very frustrating because I have the feeling that I sometimes miss a call or an short message, but because the call/SMS gets through to my phone (i.e. it isn't unreachable from the network provider), I don't get an SMS that I missed a call or that an SMS is re-sent by the provider... Currently, my phone hangs about once or twice every day, but I have no way of knowing whether it is currently frozen, if I don't frequently check it by trying to turn it on... Frustrating it is... B) Maybe someone knows something to alleviate this thorne in my side B) Thanks, Gentoo
