I can't understand why the BBC are taking so long for this as the Iphone has had it for a while now. I recon they are all a bunch of Mac lovers?

You can now get BBC3, BBC4, cbbc, cbeebies, BBC NEWS 24,and Parliament live on your mobile. It works OK on my Omnia. BBC1 and BBC2 are due to go live on the 27th Nov (I think).

I've only tried it on Wifi and it might not work outside the UK.

I've done the Opera tweak suggested here

This allows me to open iPlayer inside Opera, and then when I click 'Play' the TV show opens in WinMo Streaming Player. Unfortunately the screen stays blank/grey

Any suggestions?

It doesn't appear the SGH-i900 fix seems to work on the HTC HD, I just get a blank screen as well.

Yup, got an email from him on Friday.

The only device which supports BBC iPlayer is the Nokia N96. Even the iPhone doesn't have true iPlayer compatibility. The iPhone is a web-app, which streams the video to you, and will only work over a WiFi connection.

I was advised that you can use the desktop iPlayer to download something and then transfer it to watch on a device.

There is a plan for rollout of clients, but he was not privvy to them. I think they are busy developing for new platforms etc. He did state that there is no current solution for streaming new content to a Windows Mobile device.

Good news, the folks at WMpoweruser.com have found a fix for iPlayer on the HD.

Simply aim your Opera mobile at http://www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer/ you should be good to go.

It seems to be hit and miss with success stories, but when it works it uses the streaming media app and is 3gp over WiFi.

I tried it the other day and it worked fine with some programs (Have I got news for you) but not with others (Top Gear).

Initially the new site will only support a couple of additional handsets - the Samsung Omnia and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 but this will continue to grow with the Sony Ericsson C905 due next week and more in the coming months (stay tuned for details). The Samsung Omnia and Sony Ericsson Xperia X1 are Windows Mobile based - but this is a coincidence!

These phones have been selected as they hit our requirements of Wi-Fi and 3G support with great browsing and media playback experience (i.e. the video and audio look and sound good), and its also great to broaden our platform support out to Windows Mobile smartphones as well as our first feature phone offering on the C905.
