Vodafone ACHH3 users

Like many vodafone users i struggled with my ACHH3 ROM, and all the useless modifications that Vodafone have made to make the device less useful, but I was wary of flashing my ROM because i could not access the admin menu to change the provider as Vodafone disabled the code to get to the menu. Going to \windows\admin.exe didn't help either as the password mentioned by many guys here didn't work either. However, I braved it last night and tried to flash just to see what error message it would throw at me and I have good news guys. you don't have to change anything just make sure you're doing this on a Windows XP machine. I've flashed my Omnia using VMware Workstation running WinXP Pro. All i did was:

Switch the device off

Install ActiveSync v4.5

Reboot

Install Samsung XP modem drivers

Reboot

Plug the phone into the usb port

Made the virtual machine active and full screen (just to be on the safe side)

Start the flashing software

Start the phone

Wait a few moments

Click Start

Wait until it says "Job Done"

The device will reboot

Interesting, I had ACHH3, got to 16% of writing, then stopped. I unplugged it after half an hour and won't turn on, ie. it's bricked!

Out of interest, what did you update it to?

Sorry to hear your Omnia is bricked mate. I updated mine to DXHJ1 both PDA & Phone.

I have updated my achh3 to achj1 on vista sp1 with no samsung modem driver installed, worked flawlessly, just followed samsungs instructions.

I did a hard reset first, installed windows mobile device centre, plugged it into a usb port directly onto the motherboard and made sure windows didnt go to sleep during the upgrade.

Have had it on for nearly 48 hours, battery says 60% with minimal usage - a few phone calls/ bit of internet. On hh3 it barely lasted 24 hours. So seems like big improvement to me, I have had opera crash twice though.

I think important is that no antivirus software / firewall / antispy software and or power managing software is installed.

Directly connected to an usb port of the mainboard (not to an extended port connected with cables or something /front usb)

Flashed my phone with a MSI Wind Netbook out of the box under xp pro. No problem at all! But problems with notification of new

emails. Sometimes sound sometimes not!!!!!
