Start menu bar problems

I have looked at this topic (http://www.modaco.com/content/i900-omnia-http-omnia-modaco-com/276085/crap-line1-line2-indicators-on-the-i900/) and i noticed some pictures of the top bar (the one that holds the Start button). The OP has a lot of icons but my phone only supports 4.

If I turn on gprs and wifi the connection manager icon (those two arrows) replaces my gprs icon and then I have to disable wifi if I want to disable gprs. Then the arrows dissapear and i get my G icon back which I can click and select to disable GPRS.

Or is that how it was supposed to work?
