Guest marco007 Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Hi, I have the same problem and I solved by installing an external software called Xten softphone. It works, but with some problems in the GUI because the big screen of Omnia that is not the same of the normal 320x240. The sound quality is not bad, it has a little lag in the sound. Regards,

Guest pidsw Posted November 22, 2008 Report Posted November 22, 2008 Fring works as well. I can only test it on the AT&T Edge network so the voice quality isn't great, but it works pretty reliably and it is nice to have virtually free phone calls and long distance. I am using Sip and ocassionally a friends Skype account.

Thank You Here it is; I don't know exactly the codecs it uses but it works, except for the GUI, but it can be used.X_pro_Xten_Ppc_WinCE_1105r_17102.exe
Guest marco007 Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 I go further looking for other VOIP/SIP software that can be used with the OMNIA... well... finally I discovered Wengo Phone mobile that works... perfectly... I can ear, also, the voice from the front speaker and not from the one that is on the wrong side. Furthermore its GUI is fits perfectly for the OMNIA screen. I attach the CAB file. When you finish the installation and you start it (several seconds are needed) in the low button menu you can add a new SIP account just by overwriting the "Domain Server Name" with your provider and (as in my case) deleting the content of the "proxy server address" RegardsWengoPhoneMobile_v1.5_beta_NoGSM.CAB
Guest Sylar30 Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Anyone tried skype yet? I was thinking of using that
Guest BubMC Posted January 7, 2009 Report Posted January 7, 2009 I can ear, also, the voice from the front speaker and not from the one that is on the wrong side. there is only 1 speaker on the omnia which is on the front. I checked the app but it just uses loudspeaker volume so everyone can hear your conversation. Not a good option for me. Also I don't like the GUI very much.
Guest Dr Nicky Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 Anyone tried skype yet? I was thinking of using that I have been using Skype for months and I have no problems. Just remember to untick the "Prevent device standby mode when on line" otherwise your backlight will stay on all the time.
