Guest Lowbytes Posted November 19, 2008 Report Posted November 19, 2008 Hi 2 gether i´ve got a unbranded Omnia PDA : i900XGHG5/BHHG6 Telefon : i900XXHG3 I´ve baught bundled to a o2 Include 100 and DataL Now there´s a new Firmware branded to o2 Does anybody knows what this branding means (shure i know that any provider can customize some Parts of the software) but what is the different in detail between unbranded and o2 branded device? Can i update to the o2 branded version and if, how2? It´s a shame that they sell an unbranded phone and do not support it. I wonder why they do it with the germans. Is our market too small? I really hate this kind of customer handling!!!!!! Its realy bullshit! Can plz someone help me?

Well it depends. Branding means that your provider customizes the software. The can only put some logos on it or make some watermarks on your walpaper, put some numbers in (eg. Help center), remove some apps,... The list is almost endless. But that all depends on the providers. There are three big providers in my country and the bigest one can't brand or lock his phones because he is forbiden by law. The other two providers can brand the phone and one puts Vodafone logos and some numbers on it and the other one pust some logos (no numbers or anything else). So as you can see it really depends on your provider.
