battery drain?

Hi all. i have encountered a problem with my omnia.

my settings -> system -> power(battery power tab) is set to turn off device if device is not used for, my phone will start to hang at random times. it will hang for 5 secs n continue for 1 second. the process repeat and it is impossible to cure but to take out the battery or doing a soft reset manually.

however when i set that my phone doesnt turn off. my phone will not hang. but however, the battery will drain very fast!

any idea on what should i do? what is causing the hang? or the system lag?
