Thoughts and Notes on HK1 ROM

I know this is typical, but I didn't see anyone put his thoughts together in one topic so I was thinking of having us share the experience of the new rom "coming from J1":

1. Better overall performance.

2. Battery performance the same.

3. Touch sensitivity the same.

4. Widget alarm bell now on the 3:00 "it used to be to the 2:00" in Analog clock

5. Receiving calls during camera or business card reading is enhancing and stable.

6. Scientific Calculator is back

7. Dice game is here

8. Wireless is stable.

9. Opera Version 9.5 Build 2520

10. Camera Seems a little better "pictures taken are better compared with older roms".

11. Zoom in messaging application now doesn't wrap words around lines, however still displayed as unformatted text.

Didn't experience anything annoying so far, but it has been only 2 days now.

Sorry - how do I get the scientific calculator?

(Performance is better as far as I can feel. Battery performance not sure yet. It has been about 15 hours since I got my 908 flashed to this ROM)

Open the calculator, and then change the orientation to landscape.

Just flashed to M2D04 based on HK1. The camera does indeed seem better, pictures not as blurred as before. B)

Just to add to the list, the Samsung Launcher is more reliably activated with the finger swipe from the lower bottom of the screen, it is activated everytime you swipe you finger in opposed to the previous roms... nice!

Just updated, works great.

Had some trouble to sync my calendar, hard reset did not resolved, just made a dummy appointment on my phone and after that it sync the whole calendar. Don't know it is the fault of this rom, but i never had any problems before.

Nice UI and more responsive then M2D01 & M2D02, i think if battery life is OK, i stay with this rom for a while.

Edit : Just found that folderview.exe is missing.

I am using the factory K1 - and I think that the biggest step forward is the album view in Touch Player. It used to be the worst feature of the phone - now its a pretty cool way of viewing your albums.

New Album look

and browsing through it is faster, unlike the previous one, if you flick it left or right, it will scroll like a wheel. but the songs are still sorted alphabetically <_<

and another new thing i saw is XTRA window

and it still have that intermittent gwes.exe error issue, which i think started around HJ5 or 6

I still cannot load my 2000+ MP3s "almost 10GB" yet, and even the cover flow is very poorly implemented... petty...

well, there is always room to improve though...

gwes.exe error has returned for me in this rom.. was not in the HJ1 rom I have been using.. thought it was me... re-installed HJ1 it's fine.. back to HK1.. get error nearly every time I soft reset and intermittently..

well, there is always room to improve though...

The album flow seems to be better from the screenies but touch player still has a long way to go though. For me, the inability to specify the exact folder of the library just kills it for me. It will even scan and add all my mp3 ringtones =/ Though i do not have a problem adding my library of around 1000 songs. As with most of other samsung apps, they could have made it look more cool or sleek. Maybe they should hire hellbender to help them out in this area B)

i cant understand though, samsung also manufacture mp3 players, and ive heard some good reviews with their DAP, why not apply same UI they used on that MP3? same intuition, why the h3ll is this touch player very far from being a intuitive DAP like its built by an inexperienced designer or something.

I also have updated to the DXHK1 but my gps won't let me to connect to the satellites without the XTRA enabled B)... I also use IGO8 8.3.2.xxx. What's the problem B)(

when in Today screen, there used to be the time shown next to the volume icon. now it's the battery symbol. anyone knows how to get the clock back? I tried using sktools to tweak it, but only manage to get the clock showing when not in Today.

what hk1 are we actually talking about, there are lots of them and they're not all the same?

because in the english rom i did notice quite a big improvement of batterylife and there are two new programs (that i know of): the dice "game" and the "connected home".
