Guest Cretster Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 I want to get some decent headphones for my omnia as it is my main MP3 player now. I was about to order some Sony Ericsson HBH-DS980 phones until I found that the A2DP on the Omnia seems a bit fiddly and I'm a little worried about whether the functionality will be all useable or not, or a hassle etc? On my previous SE phones, it was simply a case of turning BT on, then switch on the headset & job done! The omnia seems to need mucking about each time you want to do this. B) What are the best quality bluetooth heaphones for say less than £100 (preferably earbuds for compactness)? Also, on a side note, when I watch a film in Coreplayer, it errors if I try to skip to a different part of the film. Does anyone know an easy way round this? It's a great player but this is a really annoying fault! Many thanks Jim
Guest jonboyuk Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Jim, I use the HBH-DS220 and it works perfectly. I love it! I'm going to upgrade to the DS980 also, so yes - highly recommended!

Very good quality of sound and microphone - "it was simply a case of turning BT on, then switch on the headset & job done".
Guest Cretster Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 (edited) Thanks guys, that's good to know. "it was simply a case of turning BT on, then switch on the headset & job done". Was your sony set like this as well Jonboy? I read a thread somewhere saying the A2DP on the omnia requires you to select your bt phones each time and specify they are 'wireless speakers' but is that not the case? Guest Quang05BlkBoxsterS n Omnia Posted November 27, 2008 Report Posted November 27, 2008 Jim, I use the HBH-DS220 and it works perfectly. I love it! I'm going to upgrade to the DS980 also, so yes - highly recommended! Can you guys confirm that the DS980 also works well with any video format playback (The Core Player, WM Player, Touch Player) without any skipping or lagging? Because I am going to get one soon, thnx.

I'm using the HBH-DS980 as well as the older DS970 and a Parrott MK6100 A2DP car kit. They all work without a glitch with the Omnia and I never have to switch. Also phone book synchronization works well now, so I think the Omnia BT stack has improved significantly compared with earlier Samsung devices. I like the DS980, excellent sound quality. Any BT headset will also work with video, but you may notice a slight delay in sound vs. picture. This is due to the digital streaming and processing involved with BT. The Omnia is plenty fast; I can live with it.

Ok I am lost about getting the S.E model HBH-IV835 mono BT headset to work with the TCPMP player (checked all the settings under the video player but none sounded applicable). BT setting was on under comm mgr but it only worked in phone call mode. Or the DS980 will sync automatically in any phone mode that plays back audio even from a movie by any media player sw?
Guest Cretster Posted November 28, 2008 Report Posted November 28, 2008 Thanks for compehensive reply bulderhart - much appreciated mate. B) I've actually orderedHBH-DS970 this morning off amazon for £31 inc post because I was tired of deliberating about which to buy. There were Philips ones where the cans are detachable SHB7100 and the sound was meant to be good but I couldn't find out enough about them. For £31 the SE ones I've ordered should be fine although I really wanted one I could buy decent headphones for to be honest. I can always upgrade I guess but i've read plenty of good reviews of them and whilst I wanted the bling OLED factor of the 980 version the slight extra functionality didn't seem worth double the money really, as sound quality is my main criteria. I notice there is actually an HBH-DS205 model which looks to have a better display than the poverty models (200/220) and added track controls, and most importantly the detachable headphones, but the display does not show track info or caller info so I decided against it. If SE would pull their finger out and sell a version of the 980 where you could use your own headphones I would be perfectly happy, and it's annoying as it's not like it would be difficult or costly for them to do!! B) I notice also they have a set that is not out yet which actually has no dongle, just the two earbuds and a wire between them! Those would be awesome for lack of pocket bulk but I bet they'll cost tons, and will probably have rubbish battery life when they come out. We'll see. I want some anyway though! B)

The reason it won't work is because the IV835 type of headsets only support the regular bluetooth handsfree protocol - they only transport 'speech'. What you need is a stereo headset, one that supports bluetooth A2DP/AVRCP.
Guest StarVision Posted November 29, 2008 Report Posted November 29, 2008 MY A2DP is Jabra BT3030 , it works perfectly with i900!

Guest ICQEagle Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 Motorola S9 works perfectly for me...
Guest zoomeklez Posted November 30, 2008 Report Posted November 30, 2008 finally I bought motorola s605, the earphone from motorola is good, but not best, so I change the earphone with seinnheiser mx660, Omnia + s605 + mx660 + touch player = SUPERBBB!!! music control also works!
Guest durex Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Anyone have comments on this headset? i.Tech Clip D-Radio http://www.itechmobile.com.sg/accessories_...0Clip%20D-Radio
Guest Cretster Posted December 1, 2008 Report Posted December 1, 2008 Well, I received my headset on Saturday morning which I was very pleased about! The HBH-DS970 is a nifty little piece of kit, but sadly the sound quality whilst not actually being too bad is not as good as I would have hoped. I'll have to try something different at some stage that I can plug some Sennheisers or Shure buds into etc. The Motorola one (S605) looks interesting but it would be nice to have a display too. I'll have to get using the new SE one and see what I think after several hours use instead of a couple of minutes worth.
Guest thestar_2009 Posted February 9, 2009 Report Posted February 9, 2009 Can someone please confirm the volume on the DS980 is good/loud enough with the omnia ? Does the phonebook functionality ie. does it display the name on the OLED display when a call comes in when paired with the omnia?
