5,500 Calendar Entries - Very Slow Active Sync

Can anyone help

I have approximately 8 years of calendar events somewhere in the region of 5,500 entries.

Admittedly the entries are a legacy of my palm PDA and WM using different PIM applications such as Life Balance or Personal Informant etc

On my HTC Touch (enhanced) with WM6 I could sync all entries within 1 hour if I loaded the data on without Pocket Informant being installed, and before installing other programs and data.

I am using Vista Home Premium and Outlook 2007, I had this set up on my Touch.

However on the HD this seems to be taking hours!! Its been going for 3 hours now and the sync progress bar is moving slowly and suggesting 15% done.

Does anyone have any idea how I could sync more quickly?

Thanks

Hi Guys

Just to let you know that I was able to sort the issue out, relatively straight forward.

I disabled Touchflo 3D and that the sync took less than 30 minutes!!

I'm lucky - I don't have a life so don't have anywhere near that amount of entries B)

Why do you need to carry 8 years worth of entries with you - you only need to keep VAT records for 7 years (or so I believe). Just interested, I'm sure you have your reasons. i only synch the past couple of weeks. Once thy're gone, they're gone as they say B)

You can tell activesync calendar to only sync the past 2 months for example.

Its pure indulgence, I know that I can work with 6 months historical data but I am a sentimental (fool??) sometimes and like to know when I last met a friend or went on holiday to a particular place etc.

When I started out with Palm this was not a problem, then when I moved to WM it initially was due to memory size but now with the HD no more!!
