Me too looking for this trick. really annoying sound! HTC at least allow us to easily switch the scrolling sound easily but come one, there must be somewhere in the registry...

bump

edit: you can disable it if you disable the system sounds in your windows options. The prob is that now all system sounds (such as system alerts or notifications) are also off.

Obviously alarms and rings (incoming calls) are not affected.

here it is, it will disable other sounds too, like the one when you change volume by 1 step, or on errors, wrong clicks, etc.

enjoy :)

Thanks, I think this is a first timer!!! people have been waiting for this for months now...

However, can you describe what exactly this cab file changes, I personally like to know what these files does before I install them...

Maybe you can guide us on a manual way to remove at least the scrolling sound?

greetings to whoever coded this... :D

I used a different method. I remembered the sounds it makes. Two different sounds, one on scrolling, the other on hitting the end of the scrol. Then I listened to all the .wav files in Windows directory. It turned out, if I remember well, that it was hwands(something like that).wav and menupop.wav. I then replaced these files with a renamed silent.wav (also found in \Windows). Good luck and double check the files' names!

new version: 2 more sounds removed (the ones when you hit max & min volume)

the cab is better than manual method above, coz it won't replace files (so you can uninstall, and if 3rd party soft would use them, they still can, but you may also wish they don't :D), instead it will redirect sounds to new muted ones within registry.

I won't detail the different keys involved here (not much time sorry), but you can edit the cab and check for yourself, or someone else can :)
