heres the deal when i first saw the omnia its was the 5mp and flash memory that made me chosse it over the diamond (4gb vs 16gb no competiton

but ive got a worry if you look at the post omnia releases, no one is really competing the only other phones that have this much built in memory are the iphone and the nokia n96. both no goers as the is no winmo. the touch hd doesnt even have built in memory. so whats happens when we upgrade. will there be a better phone in all aspects by then. because now ive had the 16gb i wont go back to micro sd buying just so i can bulk a phone up theres no need if it can now be included

so were will the omnia beater come from and im talking about an all over killer it cant have a better camera but no built in memory, it has to be better than thomnia in all ways do you think there will be a new omnia killer by a year and a halfs time

I was thinking about this after buying the Omnia - what will the phone I eventually upgrade to offer me?

It took me ages to wait for something to come out to beat my N96, the Omnia, and now I'm loving the Omnia and I'm worried I'll have to wait longer than my contract to find a worthy upgrade (many great months of Omnia usage to go!!!).

I was thinking about the TouchHD, but that's only got a nice screen. It doesn't actually offer anything different other than an 'almost' HD screen.

It'd have to be something pretty amazing with a LOT of features!

most company wont buile it tho normally they go for upgraded camera or more memory or better screen, this means toho omnia has lived up to the all in one device slogan.

I was thinking the same thing when I saw the other Omnia's for the Korean Market and the Touch HD. But this phone is rocking man and getting better all the time with the tweaks, hacks and cookers. I got rid of my IPAQ hx2795 and my N95 to have this 1 in all device and I will hold out until WM7 is on a similarly packaged device before upgrading. B)

Come on guys! I think that deep down inside we all know the answer to this question! Of course there will be an Omnia killer, just like the way there will be an iPhone killer, and a HTC Killer. And then after that, there will be an upstage for those devices as well.

Why? Because impulsive gadget tekkies like ourselves are always willing to spend money (sometimes that we don't have) on the next great thing. The industry would never survive if it weren't for people like ourselves. I can tell you that I love my Omnia, but I'm already eyeballing the new Blackberry Storm - yes I have a good history with Blackberry as well.

Am I right? Or am I right? As far as I'm concerned it's really nothing to be ashamed about!

im not saying theyre will never be one im just saying how long will we have to wait to get a phone with beter specs in all areas, like you said your eyeballing the storm whats the camera on that and whats the memory like i bet they dont match the omnia and it was released afterwards

I agree with 1Mack, this phone for me just gets better and better. Every time I think I've got it to the point where I'm completely happy I read on this forum about some tweak which improves it yet again. I actually shelled out for an unbranded Omnia as I'm still on my Orange contract with a Viewty and having upgraded to HI1 as soon as I got it I've never had a frozen screen or any other problems ever and never felt the need to upgrade further. This phone has replaced my IPAQ and whilst I'm sure something somewhere will come along it would have to be a huge step up to make me think about changing from my Omnia. I must have had this phone for over 2 months now and I still find myself picking it up just to play with it. I've never done that with any previous phone I've owned and I've owned a lot.

It has to be said however that without this forum the phone wouldn't be anywhere near as good. As well as being the best phone I've ever owned this has to be the best forum I've ever been a member of. Many thanks to Paul and everyone around the world for keeping it going. On a philosophical note if everyone could get along and be as helpful as the vast majority of members here then the world would be a better place.

I think that it will be a while before the Omnia is upstaged. Number one the Omnia is already waaaaay better then most phones like the iPhone in most categories( storage, camera, customization, etc). Two like others have said there is always some little tweak that makes this phone more enjoyable. Three for a phone to really be better than the Omnia it would just be the offering the Omnia but with better hardware such as an 8mp camera or faster processer. Software wise there its going to take even longer to beat this phone because it is a wimo device and you have so much software updates available its ridiculous. So in essence it would take a HUGE hardware upgrade to justify getting a new phone for a while(at least for me B) ).
