Funny thing just started with my Audiovox SMT5600

I have loved this site for about a year and a half now, and have found virtually every answer I have ever needed. Thank you to all who post!!! Now, I don't know if this is a new issue or not but I will try:

I have 2gb mini in my Audiovox SMT5600 and it has run flawlessly for as long as I've had it, but some new twists have begun arriving.

I use WMP on my PC to convert and sync my audio/video files and have done the RegEdit hack to get full screen (months ago).

Out of the blue (two days ago) the video conversion/sync started locking up with the "error--details" and wouldn't load any video files to the phone. I have been using the same DVD ripper for the entire time I've owned the phone and have used various file formats; MPEG2 VCD, SVCD, and even a little WMV. All have worked before, but just this recently quit working and loading. The audio files still load, but video won't.

Here are some steps I have already tried:

1. Deleting the WMP Playlist from the card numerous times.

2. Re-installing WMP on my PC.

3. System Restore Points on PC.

4. Reformatting a new Mini SD card

5. Dump files directly to the card via card reader--files won't play on phone

6. Hard Reset of phone--twice.

7. Taking hammer to phone...jk.

The odd thing is, the files already on the card still play...weird...

Any help???

Also, I want to upgrade to Mobile 6, but would probably need a step by step to get thru that and if I just use my IE on my phone or what?

Sounds like the files you are now trying to use have been created slightly different to the existing ones you have that you know to be working.

Have you updated your DVD ripper or any codecs on the pc recently? Perhaps that may be causing the issue and not the device?
