updating rom for branded omnia

Hi there I hav a t mobile branded omnia I was wondering if its ok to update the rom with another version other than the t mobile rom

or will it kill the phone

Hey, im quite new to all this and I have the same problem. I have a UK T-Mobile branded Omnia running T-Mobiles custom firmware with version number BOHH5.

I want to flash to any UK unbranded firmware but everything i try doesnt work.

I have tried with official downloads, custom firmware, xp machine, vista machine and i have tried the updates for the versions: DTHJ5, MSHJ1, DXHK1. On vista i cant even get WMDC to recognise the phone. On XP ActiveSync 4.5 finds the phone and allows me to start the updates but just gives me the 'incorrect software version' message.

The annoying this is that I can use any of the fixes for the 'incorrect software version' message as T-Mobile sems to have blocked the menu that you access with *#1546792*#

Has anyone successfully flashed a UK Omnia with BOHH5 firmware and if so could they give us some help/guides e.t.c
