Desperate Help

Hi, I have a brand new Omnia with the oldest firmware or ROM installed. I am a complete NOOB and dont understand how to install software to the phone or flash it. I only have access to Vista, so would like to be pointed in the right direction so I can get the best out of my phone. It currently is very slow when browsing around the menus etc... please help!?!
