Verified to work!

Use the files I have attached.

1. Download/Install the attached "ICSInstall.CAB" file.

(You may not need to do 2 - 6 but this is how I got it to work.)

2. Restart your phone.

3. Test the install by Connecting the USB cable to your computer.

4. Then run "IntShrUI" from the Programs Menu and select "Connect".

5. If done correctly the program should display "Connected".

6. Now select "Disconnect" and disconnect the USB cable.

7. Download/Install the attached "WMWifiRouter91.CAB" file.

8. Restart your phone.

9. Turn on Wifi.

10. Run WMWifiRouter from the Programs Menu.

11. Select "Connect"

12. If done correctly the program should display "Connected to WMWifiRouter Ready".

13. From your computer search for the "WMWifiRouter" wireless connection.

14. Now have fun surfing the web from anywhere.

*You may need to restart your phone and repeat steps 10 - 14 a few times to get it to work.

Can not get ICS to get connected. Get message "cannot connect for unknown reasons. To change your connection settings, tap settings" Won't connect with stock verizon "Broadband Connection". Have tried setting up a new connection #777, user [email protected] password vzw; still get same message, but can connect through this new connection to browse internet. WMWiFIRouter works and can I can wifi connect to it, but no interent because no ics connection. Any further help on getting this icsinstall.cab to work would be appreciated. Picked up the Verizon Omnia last week 1-3-08. CE OS 5.2.20276 (Build 20276.1.3.3) I'm taking it back if I can't get it to work. Thanks in advance

I'm curious why the ICSInstall.CAB is required for the WMWIFIRouter?

it isn't if all you plan to do is tether via WIFI.

Thanks, that is all that I plan to use it for. I tried the .91 version and lost my WIFI icons. IT worked for a few days and then in Wireless Manager the WIFI icon was gone. Had to do a hard reset. I wish there could of been a easier way to fix.

I'm going to try the v1.35 version and see if that is any better.

W......o.....W!!!

I was late on the flash train and I have been hesitant to do some tweaks and hacks because of messing with the registry. However, for some strange reason my home internet connection was off last night. I remembered seeing this post a while ago. Got over the senseless trepidations and BAM - the lap top was up and running without the Verizon home service! This is awesome.

Thanks a heap for this step-by-step guide. I already like my Omnia, but this is the icing on the cake. I had no clue that this was possible. Many, Many thanks.

Quick questions though:

1. I have s2u2 running. The screensaver will come on and the connection will get severed. Do I have to add WiFirouter to some type of exceptions list so that this does not happen? If so could you tell me where/how to do it (if you know).

2. what are the settings so that I can maintain a wifi connections without the USB connect to the laptop? This was working fine but the batttery began to drain eventhough it was getting slightly charged while being physically ththered to the laptop. Once the connection dropped getting it to connect properly (or easily) became a problem.

Thanks in advance.

Same thing happened to me. It worked briefly and then when I disconnected, I ended up having to do a hard reset to get my phone to access the internet again, Any solution?
