Guest sasha00 Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Hi After doing some research, I have decided to buy Omnia. I have a couple of questions: - Is there any difference between the 8GB and 16 GB model apart from memory. i.e. reduced functions, performance etc. - Will this phone work in Canada (FIDO, Rogers) giving the same performance such as 3G, Wi-Fi, GPS. Thanks B)
Guest finaldestiny Posted December 8, 2008 Report Posted December 8, 2008 Both models are identical, no differences except for the memory, and i think the 16gb is available in white as well. I'd recommend you spend some time browsing through the different threads in the omnia forum though, to familiarize yourself with the benefits and faults of the phone, what is acceptable and what can be fixed later through updates etc. before you buy it. I wish I had done that anyway. Not that it'd have likely to change my mind about buying one, but i'd atleast have known exactly what i was getting into.
Guest melvynadam Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 I'd at least have known exactly what i was getting into. My device is on the way (order placed last week) and I've done research but am not sure what you're referring to. So, what am I "getting into"?

So, what am I "getting into"? Well, it seems that depending on how lucky you are, you can get a great phone or a buggy one. Some users phones are working great, others arent. A list of issues off the top of my head that i've seen floating around these boards are: Screen insensitivity Poor camera quality in low light Difficulty in getting the latest ROM release for your country Default samsung ROM interface sucky Bricking of phone if flashing done wrong - happens too often, too easily it seems. This was that i was referring to by 'getting into'. Phone in general (windows mobile) isn't very finger friendly Small active 'hacker' community compared to htc devices The phone is still great though, and like i said, even if i had known all these issues before hand, i'd still have bought it. Guest sasha00 Posted December 9, 2008 Report Posted December 9, 2008 Thanks Guys for the Candid reply. I am still leaning towards Omnia. I do like challenges and life would not be fun if you know what you are getting. Is there any other phone that has so much functionality. I checked G1 but it has a lot of bugs. Any suggestions? Also are there any Canadian user?

Also are there any Canadian user? Like you, I'm considering the omnia along with a couple of others. The touch pro/raphael (seems to have lots of bugs), touch hd/blackstone (not sure of yet) and the xperia x1 are the others I'm considering but I'm leaning more towards the omnia every time I read about the rest. Its personal choice and whatever you get will need tweaking to some degree - it seems to be a characteristic of wm.
