Hi there,

Im off on my travels at the end of this week and i really want my Omnia to be my one stop media machine! I have already uploaded all my music and installed the great Kinorma freeplayer to listen to it. I now want to rip some of my dvd's and putthem onto my Omnia to watch along my way. Does anyone out there know of a good dvd ripping software? Perferably free but if i have to pay i am prepared to do so.

Cheers guys!

The program you want is DVD catalyst at DVD CAtalyst It allows you to inserta commercial DVD it will then convert the file to most portable devices. For the omnia I chose one of the generic option and went into the setting and adjusted for our screen size.

DVDShrink decrypts DVDs and then Handbrake to convert is what I use.

Omnia can play Divx which is what i use.

Download Divx player for Omnia from Read the site rules no warez links or requests which is an awesome site. It has all the apps that will work for the Omnia and games. They also update once in a while when new apps come out.

Anyways download Divx for both your computer and WM from divx.com and install them both (on computer and phone).

I used Divx Converter from the computer (previously installed) and convert whatever movies to "mobile" version.

After that i upload them using Sync to the Omnia and watch it on the Divx Player (previously installed on the phone).

Perfect quality when watching.

I spent many hours looking at the options and I ended up with SPB Mobile DVD. Yes, it is shareware, but after using this puppy I am glad to part with $24.95. This program was the best combination of fast burn time, compression, and quality, and the interface was the most user freidnly and intuitive of any.

You basically pop a DVD into the desktop drive, the app comes up and plays the intro part of the DVD in a small screen. When it gets to the man menu, you click the mouse on the PLAY option on the DVD and the whole ripping process starts.

You can adjust aspect ratio, FPS, format, etc. I play mine in DivX player and on the Touch Player on the Omnia.
