Guest Fred Bloggs Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Hi, just got my Omnia this afternoon, I'm impressed, better than the waste of battery power my N95 takes up. Anyway, my first problem, I've done a search, read a few threads, but they are not answering my problem. Tried to take a photo, test the camera out, & all I get is what's in the quote below? Not enough video memory, Please close other applications and try again. I opened Task Manager, & this is what's running; error 2.29m messaging 1.22m main menu 1.22m fm radio 644k notes 404k touch player 396k tools 216k call log 176k task manager 136k Next I opened Omnia's memory, & below is the result; storage programs total 91.87mb total 97.37mb in use 47.91mb in use 53.31mb free 43.95mb free 44.06mb This type of phone is completely new to me, I've always had Nokia's, Has anyone an answer, is it a common problem, am I doing something noobish....saying I've only had my Omnia for a few hours now, Thanks in Advance, FB.
Guest travelbug Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 never had that problem. never seen that problem posted around the forums too your best option be to hard reset your omnia but that would wipe out everything. but as your phone is new im sure it doesnt contain a lot of data yet
Guest greyfox8585 Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 try shutting down everything in the task manager then try again
Guest Fred Bloggs Posted December 11, 2008 Report Posted December 11, 2008 Hi, thanks for both replies, appreciated....didn't go for the Hard Reset, thought I'd leave it till last since it took that long to put all my contacts on, so I shut everything down in Task Manager, & lol and behold my camera started working....... Try it out better tomorrow, Many Thanks, FB.
Guest greyfox8585 Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 victory dance over here ive had that issue mind you i had used roughly 13 gb within the first hour of getting (when id decided i was getting the phone i spent ages encodind tv shows from dvd to 400x240 divx especiial)
Guest meabigbaldguy Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 I had the same problem, every now and again, with my Omnia after I purchased it about four months ago. When this happens, you can soft reset the device and then the camera should work. I've since upgraded my device's firmware and I haven't had any recurrences of the problem. You can download new firmware for the Omnia by going to Samsung's website, or you can download one of the many custom ROMs posted on this forum or others. Be careful though, if you have a branded Omnia (ie Vodafone, Verizon, TMobile), you may not be able to upgrade with any other ROM than their own. I personally am using a custom ROM on an unbranded Omnia.
Guest Fred Bloggs Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 Be careful though, if you have a branded Omnia (ie Vodafone, Verizon, TMobile), you may not be able to upgrade with any other ROM than their own. I personally am using a custom ROM on an unbranded Omnia. There's an issue on the Vodafone Forum at the moment concerning the Firmware, No Google Maps for one. So basically if I want Samsungs own Firmware on, I'll have to de-brand my phone first ? FB.
Guest s0cks Posted December 12, 2008 Report Posted December 12, 2008 Fred, just try update your firmware ROM... I had this problem when my Omnia had DXHG4 ROM. Now I have DZHJ1 and the problem doesn't exist anymore!
Guest Fred Bloggs Posted December 13, 2008 Report Posted December 13, 2008 Thanks for that Socks....I've only had my Omnia for a few days now, having swapped from a N95. Bricked that with an update once from Nokia, so I'mm hesitant to go ahead. I'd like Samsungs Original Fireware on, but with meabigbaldguy advice ( Be careful though, if you have a branded Omnia (ie Vodafone, Verizon, TMobile), you may not be able to upgrade with any other ROM than their own) I think I need to look into it further before I'll have a go. Cheers, FB.
