Hey,

I own a Blackjack 2 for AT&T. I was talking to one of the store reps and they were telling me about all the modding that you can do to a Blackjack or WinMo phones in general (he told me secretly). I have never done anything of this sort. He had given me this website, told me I could find good information on here. I trying to search the forums for a tutorial on the basics and I read the one in this section but I still have some questions.

I don't really understand the whole concept of these ROM things. My main questions are :

1) What exactly do the ROMs do and do you have to edit them

2) what are some cool ROMs or Mods for the BJII

3) If someone could point in the the direction of a tutorial or a link to different BJII mods/roms/cracks/etc

thanks

No need to bump the topic, just give people time to answer :)

Welcome to the site btw

The ROM is basically the core operating system and main settings of the device, each network or manufacturer create a ROM to ship with the device and it is set up the way they intend you to use the device.

Flashing the ROM is the same as formatting and reinstalling Windows on your pc, some times new ROMs can offer performance improvements or updated features for the device.

I personally say unless you have any specific issues with the device I would avoid flashing as there can always be risks that during the flashing process if a fault/loss of power occurs then you could kill your phone. Too many people flash for the sake of it and while it's less like to kill a device it is still possible.

For more information and guides on your device check out the i617 section of the site, there are pinned posts which have tips you may want to use.
