Guest DANGAMAN Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 (edited) Hi I too am new here (Great site you have) I am thinking that I have made a wrong choise in buying the Omnia due to the problems I am facing below. I do not want to admit that this phone is a flop. Please help The battery life of my Omnia gets by 15 hours max! Is there an easy way to end running programs maybe this will extend the battery life. Is there anything else I can do? Also how can I change the unlock button, say to the camera button? I think this way will be better instead of pressing two buttons on diffrent parts of the phone. Thanks alot  Edited December 16, 2008 by DANGAMAN
Guest merlot Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 My battery life is roundabout 3-5 days long. It depends on what I'm doing with my Omnia. I've flashed my Omnia with the DXHK1 custom ROM made by PaSSoA. This ROM is just great. For your problem with running tasks in the background, I use tMan. It's a lightweigth taskmanager.
Guest scoiattolo Posted December 16, 2008 Report Posted December 16, 2008 The battery life of my Omnia gets by 15 hours max! Try to update your ROM to a more recent one. They all have improvement for battery life. Have a look at the ROM sub-forum Is there an easy way to end running programs maybe this will extend the battery life. Any task manager will do this. Also how can I change the unlock button, say to the camera button? I think this way will be better instead of pressing two buttons on diffrent parts of the phone. You just need to long press the END button to lock/unlock the phone. Alternatively you can short press the power on/off button. Just one button press in both options.

Thanks alot  I know what you mean I have had the phone for about 2 weeks and have to charge the phone every night , by the end of a days very light usage I am down to about 20-30%, When I say light usage I mean 4-5 text messages, perhaps a 5 minute call and that is about it. My phone is a T-Mobile one with their firmware BOHH5. Getting a bit fed up with the charging to be honest, thinking about getting a 3000 mah battery but not sure if this will even help to be honest. I am thinking about chaning the firmware but am very worried about doing this, not too sure exactly how, or which would be the best one to put on for the best battery performance. Also not sure what settings are in the T-Mobile branded rom that I will need to note down to make it all work on T-Mobile if I did flash it with a new ROM. Questions, Questions Question. What should I do.
Guest Natsirt Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 I heard for battery life any rom after HJ1 is good. And the HK# roms are even better, i'm waiting for the official HK# rom to come out before i flash it... bit paranoid about bricking my phone.
Guest thetwiztidfreak Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Im using the standard verizon rom with touchFlo and i feel like i get great battery life. I am a heavyuser and my omnia has never gone dead on me. I do charge it every night when i go to sleep since that has been my habit with EVERY phone ive ever had. Even when i forget to plug it in i can make it 2 days with out a charge easy. Dont see whats so hard about charging while your asleep.
Guest wkmmx500 Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Hallo robsonalan Check this forum: http://www.handy-faq.de/forum/samsung_i900_omnia_forum/ In general, no wories about losing settings when flashing to newer rom. The phone recognizes the t-mobile sim and automatically asign the right settings. I have my Omnia since august and flashed it many times and every time the settings were done automatically (the phone recognizes the sim and asks if it should set itself with right settings. As to battery live. I have now rom HK3 and with your usage it would easaly last for 2 and probably 3 days. I can do calls for over an hour, use it for 3 hours in the car to listen to internet radio and still have 40-50% left. HK2 is even better on battery live, but HK3 has better phone coverage.

Is there any pages on firmware update instructions. I mainly use a VISTA laptop but have access to a XP Laptop also. I have downloaded DXHK3 rom. My phone it is currently i900XXHH7/BOHH5 will this DXHK3 rom work ok on a T-Mobile Branded UK I900. Can someone tell me the full process that and each step that I need to do in order to update my phone with this firmware for VISTA and or XP. I may give it a go to try to improve Battery Life.
Guest wkmmx500 Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Check this thread... http://www.modaco.com/content-page/272065/...pened/page/120/ Several T-Mobile users that have flashed their phone succesfully. Make sure you use Win XP, follow instructions mentioned in post 129 and 130. They are mentioning other rom versions, but as long as you have a rom released by secany (a single...exe file) and follow the instructions you should be fine. Make sure you have a backup of any personal data (pictures/files) before flashing, because everythng will be gone. Good luck!
Guest DANGAMAN Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Thanks you guys I updated the rom to MSHJ1 (Is this a good updated rom?) The battery life has improved from what it was. Every how often do I have to update? Any other cool applications ? I also have another question when storing data "pictures" on the phone memory I get a notice saying (low memory) I then save these items to the memory card and then there is no problem. Why? If I save a film on the Omnia where do I store it? Is there a specific folder ? Thanks again
