Omnia Wake for SMS/MMS?

My Omnia 910 will wake for a phone call, but the screen remains off when receiving an SMS or MMS. From what I have read, this is a Samsung setting or design. Can anything be done to wake the phone when a message is received? I am coming from a dumbphone that woke the screen to show who sent the message or how many messages you had. Is their an app or registry tweak that can accomplish this?

I'm wondering the same exact thing. Seems unusual that no one responded to this post, I thought it would be an easy hack someone had already discovered.

I don't know if this is speciffic to I910 but my I900 wakes up when I receive something. It's nice when my screen lits and then (about 2 seconds later) i receive a sms. :rolleyes:

Mine is a 910 and it doesn't wake for text or sms messages. It does wake for a phone call. I'd be interested in a tweak for this, too.

i900 wakes up for SMS.

If I remember correctly, it *used* not to wake up for SMS, but only on very early firmware versions.

mine beeps as well, and if it is in sleep mode it does not light up. however, it turns the backlight on when its not in the full sleep mode (the screen black).

this is really annoying, since i rarely hear it ring.

My i900 wakes up as well, maybe you should update your rom.

im using an i-900 with the j1 ROM and it wakes up too

im quite sure its a ROM thing.

try updating yours

If I'm not mistaken, i900 has waking up feature built in (at least that's what I've heard). In terms of beeps, there should be a setting under Settings->System->Notifications that will play a sound upon new e-mail/mms/sms...

I had my phone set on vibrate and beeping, but I couldn't hear it, so I cooked up that little app.

yes this is true it does wake up if ya get text ect but i was after a prog that beeps say every 10sec to say you have a text and keeps beeping untill you open it

I do not use a screen lock and do not want my screen to light up, however, the new roms always light up upon the arrival of a message or mms! Even a program like phonealarm which has a do not light up upon notification does not work. Anyone knows a way around this problem?

Look at spb phone suite. That feature is built in...

There's gotta be a setting someplace under notifications that addresses this. If not... I will try to add this feature as well...
