Guest Sky Masters Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Greetings fellow Omnians, For starters thanks to everyone who has provided all the mods & hacks to make the phone better. I have the verizon Omnia, haven't modded it too much and trying to get used to it. I used the WM WifiRouter for a couple of days and it worked excellently, until the other day. I tried it and it won't connect. Come to find out that my Wifi wouldn't switch on! I turned the phone off & on and Wifi still would not switch on. Can anybody recommend any suggestions? Any help will be most appreciated Also is there anyway to fully maximise the bluetooth capabilities (registry hacks) on the phone? It seems like they have disabled the bluetooth function that allows file transfer between PC and phone and vice versa.
Guest supermom1 Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 open file explore go to my divice then windows scrole to bottom find wlanLoader click on on it, it should open a little window that says load/unload click load
Guest comic75 Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 My WiFI will not turn on after installing/downloading the VZappZone. I removed it and WiFi came back.
Guest Sky Masters Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Thank you very much! I tried both tips and its back on!
Guest philcat Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 (edited) Thank you very much! I tried both tips and its back on! I have a similar problem, the wifi turns on although it struggles to do so, but my Omnia can no longer find the router even when right by it. It used to connect ok, but can't now and I cannot think what I've done to cause this, has anybody got any ideas please? Also when I checked in Settings\System\Version there are no figures after S/W:, H/W: or MAC:. I figure the hardware has failed (hard reset didn't fix it), anybody concur with this please, or could it be a software problem? philcat Edited December 29, 2008 by philcat

Thanks, it will have to go back to Samsung. Funny thing is that the GPRS seems to have broken down too whilst the GPS is fine and works even without a proxy. Maybe my GPRS and WLAN have failed and one or both conflict with the GPS? I'll see when I get it back.
Guest dbsimms63 Posted December 29, 2008 Report Posted December 29, 2008 I'm not sure what the difference is between the i900 and i910. I have an Omnia from Verizon here in the US and after I installed the WMWifirouter to tether to my laptop, it worked great, then after a few days, my wifi disappeared from my settings>connections area. I mean it wasn't there. I hard reset the phone and got it back and reloaded the CAB files for internet sharing and WMWifi router. I wonder if it has anything to do with Verizon and how they hack the phones so you have to buy a broadband card for your laptop.
Guest stunnaman Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 It is a know problem for the verizon version i910. Me and my buddies at work have the same issue and they are working on a update for it along with the update when they unlock the gps early next year. Also i tried the wlanloader and it still didnt work for me any other suggestions cause i hate hard resetting.
Guest breakfastchef Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 For me, the lock up of Wireless Manager required a hard reset. It only happened once on my i910. Nothing works as well as a good hard reset.

I uninstalled VZ App Zone and my wifi magically worked. I had done it once before and hard-reset to fix it, so i went through the steps one by one, and this is what i determined.

This happens, just open up wmwifirouter again, connect and quit, then it should be back

Guest dbsimms63 Posted January 2, 2009 Report Posted January 2, 2009 What does the crash cleanup do in the WMWifiRouter?
Guest byutzy Posted February 8, 2009 Report Posted February 8, 2009 Tried, when I click on WMWiFiRouter the little pinwheel just turns like it is trying to load, but never does, or it says it is connected, and WLAN is on, but it is waiting for ICS Go to settings>system>power>wifi and uncheck the power saving option. I was having the same problem and read this fix in another forum. Worked perfectly, I was about ready to return my omnia.

I've read about everyone who has done this wmwifirouter and connection sharing mod for tethering their laptops, and it seems a lot of you have the problem with disappearing wifi icons. I never did this mod, but have used a program called PDANet (google it). It works flawlessly to tether your laptop over USB or Bluetooth. It does cost $34, but in my opinion is worth every penny. I used it on my Palm Treo for the last year, and now my Omnia. I have no problems VPN connecting to work and remote dekstop accessing various computers to do my work, no matter where I am. It rocks! Guest dbsimms63 Posted September 11, 2009 Report Posted September 11, 2009 Well for folks running WMWifiRouter, using crash cleanup before you exit the program will keep your Wifi icon from disappearing from your wireless manager. And if it happens to not come up, just open up WMWifiRouter, use crash cleanup again, soft reset and all will be normal again. I have not had to do a hard reset since. Word of caution, the newer version of WMWifiRouter, v. 1.5, doesn't seem compatible with Omnia i910, at least not on mine. I could never see the internet on my laptop even though WLAN was on and ICS was connected. The old free version, v. 0.91, still works fine though.
Guest meeym Posted April 29, 2010 Report Posted April 29, 2010 Hello everyone, I have an omnia i900 and it was working fine one day and the next it wouldn't even come on. I stumbled upon your responses today and I switched off the power saving mode first (menu/system/power) then I went to windows (file explorer/my device/windows) and clicked on WlanAutoLdr. It didn't show anything but after I did a soft reset my wi fi came on and connected to the internet network. So thanks for sharing and I hope this helps others.
