iPlayer still not working on Omnia

Alright folks.

I have a recently purchased Orange Omnia, resident in the UK, and I have seen from various sources that the BBC are now supporting the Omnia for iPlayer.

I have tried to access this by going to www.bbc.co.uk/mobile/iplayer, but this comes up with an error saying

'ERROR! Remote server or file not found. You tried to access the address http:www.bbc.co.uk/mo... which is currently unavailable. Please make sure that the Web address (URL) is correctly spelled and punctuated, then try reloading the page.

*Make sure that your Internet connection is active and check whether other applications that rely on the same connection are working.'

This also happens if I try clicking on the link from bbc.co.uk/mobile that says iPlayer.

Does anyone know if this is an error from the phone, if I need to be connected to WiFi, if iPlayer is only intermittent on the mobile site, or if the iPlayer site is not yet up and running through the Omnia?

I'm having a strange problem on my omnia regarding iplayer. I can watch and listen to Live TV and Live Radio no problem, it's the Catch up service that I'm having problems with. Everytime I try to watch a catch up programme, the volumn does not work, anyone else experiencing this issue?

Yes, same problem for me. Video fine, sound nada. Anybody out there with a solution?

I managed to watch wallace and gromit on catch up yesterday fine, with sound, fullscreen.

im on latest official ROM from samsung website.. No idea why yours wouldnt work.

All i did was open opera, search for iplayer, clicked mobile link and worked :rolleyes:

You have the lastest ROM, may be that is the solution. I'm still on the Orange branded BVHH1. I'm still waiting for Orange to get their fingers out of their a**es and make the new ROM available for download.

what are the implications for orange branded omnia if I upgrade to the latest rom ... I think its DXHK3 according to other posts.

I have the exact same problem with iplayer, video picture is fine but no audio at all... the live streaming has picture and audio...

does any one have any solution or suggestions for orange omnia owners? my version is PDA: i900XXHH1/BVHH1, Phone: i900BVHH1

UPDATE:

I upgraded to the new ROM version MSHJ1 (upgraded from Orange branded version BVHH1).

IPLAYER NOW WORKS PERFECTLY.

after the upgrade, you get a new piece of software called "arcsoft", this replaces the "packetvideo" pvplayer that you get by default with the orange branded omnia, in the ROM version BVHH1...

its easy to upgrade... a step by step is listed on this site somewhere and also here:

theabove link also has a link to a program called "Pocket PC 2000" which allows you to make a small edit to your registry before performing the upgrade. Also make sure you have downloaded and installed the samsung modem driver beforehand.
