Guest awagih Posted December 17, 2008 Report Posted December 17, 2008 Dear All, I have upgraded my unlocked Samsung BlackJack II into Windows Mobile 6.1, and everything works fine email/internet/google maps/GPS.. However, I can't get any of the bundled IM software to work (AOL/Yahoo/MSN) trying to run any of these will give me the message "communication error. Please try again or check your settings." I have removed AT&T proxy and media net after unlocking them from the registry. Any Clues? Regards,
Guest awagih Posted December 18, 2008 Report Posted December 18, 2008 Did it work before? P Thanks for the prompt reply Paul. No, I didn't test it because I upgraded my mobile as soon as I recieved it. I was able to run internet after removing the AT&T registry entries as described here, so IE, Google Maps, and Exchange Server are working fine. The only thing that isn't working is IM: I tried both Yahoo Messenger and MSN and both are not working (although they are working on my other mobile HTC 3300). Regards,
Guest thelostsoul Posted December 19, 2008 Report Posted December 19, 2008 Can you send Text Messages? The built in messenger is supposed to use SMS, so make sure your SMS Service Center is correct. Start - Settings - Phone - All Calls - Call Options

Guest thelostsoul Posted December 22, 2008 Report Posted December 22, 2008 hmm, are you on ATT? Does AOL work? Try this ... send a text message to 246246 (aimaim - AOL's txt service) with the message "login screenname password" (minus the quotes, replace screenname and password with your screenname and password) ...that should work on any provider that the service is enabled on.

Start - Settings - Phone - All Calls - Call Options 6.1 is defaulted to use data connection for the bundled IM software.

Thanks for replying Anthrax, but my device is unlocked and I'm using another service provider and not ATT; in fact I had to go through the process of removing the registry entries for ATT proxies as mentioned on this newsgroup! Cheers,
