Omnia woes

Ok people this is a bit of a grip and a bit of a request for help. I have had the Omnia for about 2 months now and over that time I have spent a huge amount of time trying to get it to a useable state. It’s a UK orange HH1 variant.

Video support

First thing that doesn’t work. The Nero software supplied with it will not play any form of file. I tried rectifying this by installing DivX but it will only play a demo of two monkeys playing with a ball which gets a bit boring after a while. As such my Onmia has no video capability. I simply want to be able to transfer a file to it and watch it (avi, divx, wmv would be greate)

MP3 Player

The MP3 interface is pretty poor. When I compare it to the one on the Iphone it makes me pretty gutted I didn’t get an iphone. Is there something that’s a bit more intuitive to use with a nicer skin?

GPS

I have successfully got Tom Tom 7 working with GPS gate but along the way installed GPSproxy. After the uninstall I am constantly presented with the error “Cannot execute /My storage/Files/GPSproxy/setevent.exe?” every time I use the phone. Does anyone know how I can get rid of this as its driving me crazy.

Games

Since most of the Java games out there are designed for phones with a phone pad they cannot be played with on the onmia as the software pad covers the whole screen. As such bubble breaker is about the best of the bunch. But then again it’s a step up from solitaire.

Text messaging

The text interface is pretty poor in that you have to compose messages in tiny tiny text even though space is wasted by useless CC and Bcc fields. It is made marginally better using SIPset. But for a function that is pretty key to the phone its poor.

Phone functions

Well at least the phone seems to work but there is an annoying thing where it locks the keypad even when speaker phone is on. Therefore it’s pretty frustrating using it for an automated system (basically any business these days)

Camera

Fair play the camera is great down to the nice work from Samsung I expect.

Any idea how I can turn the Omnia into the phone I hoped it would be (don’t say buy an Iphone)

About your video problem, I'm using the default Touch player and it plays divx, avi without any problems.

You can also try Coreplayer
