Guest stuartakaboney Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 Hi, I got home after sending my girlfriend the omnia, purchased online in Thailand. I am impressed by a lot of things on this phone, it is cool. :) But setting it up is a bitch; the nokia n95 is far easier and has a decent manual explaining everything. I have managed to get most of what I wanted to set it up for her. BUT. 1. There was no manual (0nly a quick start manual.) Downloaded one from the Thai Samsung mobile web site, (the UK site didn’t have one.) This said, the manual still is very basic. 2. I am unable to assign an mp3 tune I had on my nokia n95 for messages. I managed to do it for my ring tone by moving an mp3 file to my storage ringtones folder. But where do I copy the mp3 file to? and will mp3 work? I guess windows somewhere and what format? 3. Can I assign photos or pictures I up-load to my phone as caller id? (Shows their photo when they ring.) 4. How do I add and remove items (change to what I want on there) on the Samsung widget? 5. With this package came route 66 cd for navigation. But when I installed it and connected to my phone it said please start navigator to install this program. There is no navigator program????? The phone came in a box that said mobile navigator Samsung Omnia???? 6. My version of phone is i900DXHH3, is it possible to up grade this as recommended in the forums? Any other essentials that you recommend will be appreciated. I have downloaded from the samsung site uk all the roms for different country's near Thailand but Thailand was not on the list. I havent installed any yet because I dont know which one to install and if I should. the phone seems to work fine most of the time. oh, battery life is good, I spent 16 hours solid playing with it and setting it up and battery didnt go down hardly! I have browsed through the forums looking for answers but didn’t come up with the ones I wanted for the above. Any help would be appreciated as my girlfriend is not techy orientated and I have to get it so it’s simple. Oh one other thing, now that we have 2 video call phones, how easy is it to set up to use? We are able to use any pay as you go sim in either phone. Is it provider dependent? Thanks in advance Stuart Bone

After flashing a new ROM and performing a hard reset Route 66 should install itself again automatically. If you don't want to use Roms from this site, then you can find the latest official Samsung Roms here.. (DX version Roms will be eighter Singapore or Phillipines at the Samsung site) Edited December 21, 2008 by mobilehappy
Guest bpivk Posted December 21, 2008 Report Posted December 21, 2008 2. You just enter a contact and you'll have an option to add a picture. 3. I use the explorer program and hold the stylus/finger on the desired mp3 and then just select use as a ringtone and the phone will copy the files and set the mp3 as a ringtone.
