OneBridge Problems On HTC Touch HD

Hi, wondered if someone could help. Trying to install OneBridge version 5 on my HTC Touch HD as follows:

- Have ActiveSync 4.5 on my laptop and can connect my device to my laptop with no problems.

- When installing OneBridge there is a point at which it says disconnect the device from the cradle/USB

- When I do that it comes up saying now reconnect the device to the cradle/USB as expected

*this is where the problem occurs!*

- I connect the Touch HD back to the USB and it tries to connect to ActiveSync but fails with the message: "To synchronize this device you must install ActiveSync 4.5 or newer on your desktop computer".

The laptop continues to display the message asking for the device to be reconnected, but after numerous attempts ActiveSync fails to detect the Touch HD.

If I then abort the installation, the Touch still fails to connect to the laptop until I do a reboot of the laptop.

Has anyone else had this problem or does anyone have any ideas on what's going wrong ?

Onebridge worked perfectly fine on my HTC Tytn II so I'm wondering if it's an issue with Windows Mobile 6.

Thanks.

Merry Christmas!, not tried installing OneBridge, didn't even know what it was 'til I googled it! But I may have a solution.

Have you tried disabling the 'Connect to PC' menu which offers you the choices of ActiveSync / Disk Drive / Internet Sharing when you connect via USB?

It may be that during the reconnect of your installation, the device it waiting for you to choose the connection type, but you're unable as your installing the app and it times out.

Try changing the settings to force an ActiveSync only connection.

Start > Settings > Connections > USB to PC

Set to ActiveSync and untick the 'Ask me' box.

May also want to try clearing the 'Enable faster data sync' box.

Hope this works for you  I myself have had a few ActiveSync/USB teething troubles with my HD.

Merry Christmas

Hi Mike, thanks for the info. I've tried this, but unfortunately I still get the same error message about needing ActiveSync 4.5 on my device.

But changing the settings as you suggested means the Touch is connecting to the laptop and to ActiveSync - shows as connected on both devices.

Looks like something else is triggering that error message, but no idea what !!
