Esmertec Jbed keyboard issue

I'm on a T-Mobile Dash with Esmertec Jbed (latest).

In applications like MIDPSSH (v1.7.3), the keys WERSDFXCV are all mapped to numbers. I've encountered this in a few other MIDP applications. Is there a fix for this? This doesn't occur in full-screen text-entry fields - only when in the active application.
