Guest somedude Posted December 24, 2008 Report Posted December 24, 2008 (edited) All of a sudden my wi-fi option is gone! I remember fooling around with the wlanloader in the windows folder, and thats the only thing i can think of that could cause this. Does anyone know how to get this back WITHOUT doing a HARD RESET? I need this functionality back asap! Edited December 24, 2008 by somedude
Guest Eraser-X Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 HAve you installed the WMWifirouter? If you have run the crash recover and it will restore the wifi option. I have had this happen to me and that was the fix that worked. Rex All of a sudden my wi-fi option is gone! Guest dave124 Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 i have WMWifirouter installed, and i have tried the crash cleanup, but still no wifi option. Run the Crash Cleanup again and then reset the phone via the button next to the power button. Once the phone turns back on, you should have your wifi back?

Guest BitterBastard Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 I have the exact same problem and did exactly what you did: I ran wlanloader.exe. I did it because someone recommended running it to get control back of the WiFi, which had stopped responding to On/Off commands (it was stuck Off). But not responding is better than not being listed!!!

Guest SiLviO_ Posted December 27, 2008 Report Posted December 27, 2008 (edited) Drag the Wifi(connectivity) widget on the screen and touch the Wifi and it gets on... I had the same problem and it was because of a bad wifi configuration and i solved it with that... Edited December 27, 2008 by SiLviO_

Guest somedude Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 i did a hard reset. I didnt want to, but that seemed to be the only way to get it back. whatever you guys do, do NOT mess with that wlanloader.exe file. Dont even look at it!
Guest bpivk Posted December 30, 2008 Report Posted December 30, 2008 I tend to turn a blind eye when I browse the Windows folder. It's for the best on both PC's and PPC's.
Guest fatal_g Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 I tend to turn a blind eye when I browse the Windows folder. It's for the best on both PC's and PPC's. Ok, is your Verizon Omnia i910 wifi (wi-fi) connection all of a sudden GONE, MIA, VANISHED, BROKEN, WONT TURN BACK ON, Icons are missing? I kind of experienced all of the above at once. My phone was good for days until I followed the wmwifirouter and icssharing instructions. Toying around with that is what broke it (AFTER a soft reset it was GONE!). So I searched here and the above comments helped, thanks! but specifically here's what seemed to do it for sure.... (at least I'll presume that if you follow these instructions, there's no reason it shouldn't work?) 1. Soft reset 2. Do a wmwifirouter cleanup (run it and chose the cleanup if you have this installed) 3. Open programs task manager - now close everything.. wtf is activesync there! ^*(*&)(&^%*$ 4. Open the samsung wifi widget from the samsung today screen (as stated above, drag out, and click)... 5. Turn on wifi. It seems it wont work. 6. Turn off bluetooth, phone, wifi, then turn all back on. 7. After wifi times out TRY AGAIN, as it is trying, SOFT RESET (right away). 8. When it comes back on, immediately try Wifi On again. This worked for me. Hope it works for you.

I think it may have been me effing around with the power settings that caused the "mishap..." Be careful with those.
Guest lastnikita Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 if you removed the wlandautoloader.lnk in windows\startup (pointing to windows .exe), just put it back & soft-reset
Guest Blobs Posted January 12, 2009 Report Posted January 12, 2009 If you have your sync cable connected it will disappear whilst connected to the network. Remove the cable and it will come back.
Guest Mr. B! Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 This happened to me as well. Can't say for sure what caused it, but I did the WMWifirouter Crash Cleanup, turned the phone off and then back on and it was restored.
Guest theidoctor.org Posted March 22, 2009 Report Posted March 22, 2009 (edited) i have version 1.30 of it and cant find the crash cleanup.... any other tips? i dont how to do this one... f you removed the wlandautoloader.lnk in windows\startup (pointing to windows .exe), just put it back & soft-reset wink.gif ---------------------------------- well i kinda got it to work... i put the wlanautoldr from windows to startup.... soft reset... nothing. well i copied the normal wlan loader to the startup... reset.... and now it asks to load each time it starts up... it will work till i can get a better solution Edited March 22, 2009 by theidoctor.org
Guest pelswick48 Posted March 24, 2009 Report Posted March 24, 2009 I had the same problem. Doing the crash cleanup in WMWifiRouter worked for me.
Guest rboyajian Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 I had the same problem. Doing the crash cleanup in WMWifiRouter worked for me. Try this -- it worked for me on the same problem: Settings, Power, WiFi tab. Uncheck the power-saving mode box, then reboot. Might need to play around with the main Power Save' tab also, but this was the magic bullet for me. I've since re-enabled all power saving and it hasnt happened since. Good luck!
Guest SuzukiDan Posted March 25, 2009 Report Posted March 25, 2009 Well it looks like I might be screwed.. I too am a victim of the ICS + WMWifiRouter bomb and my wifi is GONE. I tried everything in this thread several times, following instructions exactly and I'm still not able to turn wifi on via the widget. Just a question, soft reset means hold down the power button right? Or do you mean hit that tiny button next to the power button? Will that do a hard reset or what?
Guest SuzukiDan Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Come on, nobody has any ideas? Am I doing this stuff right? The soft reset is just holding the power button right?
Guest gags9999 Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Come on, nobody has any ideas? Am I doing this stuff right? The soft reset is just holding the power button right? No, for soft reset you have to insert your stylus in the small hole right next to the power button and give it a small push. Your phone will soft reset. I also had the same problem but for me switching on flight mode and again switching it off worked perfectly. I had my wifi back on flight again. B)
Guest SuzukiDan Posted March 26, 2009 Report Posted March 26, 2009 Ok, well I tried that process again with the soft reset button and still no good. How do I switch it into "flight mode"?
Guest gags9999 Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Ok, well I tried that process again with the soft reset button and still no good. How do I switch it into "flight mode"? Choose samsung Today 2 plugin on home screen, select settings, unlock settings and toggle the flight mode.Of-course, your mileage may vary . All the best.
Guest SuzukiDan Posted March 27, 2009 Report Posted March 27, 2009 Choose samsung Today 2 plugin on home screen, select settings, unlock settings and toggle the flight mode.Of-course, your mileage may vary . All the best. Thanks for the suggestion, but I've only got one Samsung Today option in my list of possible "today" items. So I select that, but nowhere is there a 'settings' button. I tried editing the buttons and 'settings' is not an item in the list of choices. I found a way to turn flight mode on and off with voice commands, so I tried that several times but Wifi is still disabled.. I have no way to run crash cleanup because I removed wmwifirouter from my device with the removal tool found on xdadev forum. I cannot reinstall wmwifirouter, it gives me a generic error about "cannot be installed. please choose a different location." but no location works. And yes i deleted the wmwifirouter folder in program files.. I downloaded a registry editor and did my best to search for WMWifiRouter, WLAN, WIFI, Jaguar (the wifi card driver) but simply cannot find anything that looks like a fix. I've adjusted some settings but nothing made a difference. I've searched google, other forums, spent hours and hours on this for the last few days.. and frankly i'm sick of it. I'm getting sick of this phone because it has all the problems of windows, but few of the usual tools to trouble shoot those problems. For example, how the HELL do you uninstall / reinstall a device?? I'm sure if I could just reinstall the wifi card drivers it would probably fix this.. But alas, I see no place to do this. I'm starting to envy my iPhone owning friends! :gasp: Mostly because it does (almost) everything this phone does but it all WORKS SMOOTHLY.. assuming you jailbreak it anyway. Someone please restore my faith in windows mobile phones, I'm ready to flush this thing in the toilet, and I've been a anti-mac windows lover my whole life!
