Guest unisat Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Hi, My omnia JVHH1 dies temporarily alone, does not respond to any button and the screen is black. Even if I press the the power button or press and hold -nothing happens. It wont Restart unless I remove the battery, replace it again and connect the device with the ac adapter to the wall plug and then press power button. It seems that removing the battery and replacing it is a must to revive the device. This happens suddenly and two to three time/day even if am not using the device. The battery reading is 100% charged. Any help please. TIA
Guest X-Ray A4T Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Had a similar thing happen to me today. The screen went black and would not respond to buttons although I could hear the phone responding. Pulled out the battery and it started up fine.
Guest hatchback19 Posted December 26, 2008 Report Posted December 26, 2008 Had this problem with my i910, would also respond if I plugged in the charger. Returned it to Verizon for a new one, as I could not figure out the issue. Good luck!

TIA This is a known issue with HH1 - you need to upgrade to the latest Firmware which you will find in the forum. Good luck with the Omnia - it's a nightmare phone IMHO. Terrible battery life, unresponsive screen and a shocking user experience. If you can still get rid of it I would and steer clear of Samsung handsets full stop. Sorry if that's not what you want to hear.

Your description is so accurate. Unfortunately Am stuck with it .Can't get rid of it. Am so scared to upgrade it myself to the new ROM jvHK1.I read all sorts of stories in other forums written by owners of the device who tried to upgrade themselves following the official procedure to end up with bricked devices. To make things worse, agents of samsung refused to replace the bricked devices. I see you have an HTC HD device what do you think of it . How do you compare to omnia. Finally , do you have any idea/Tweak other than upgrading to a new ROM for my Omnia to try to overcome this mess am in. Thanks and best regards

Thanks and best regards Hi Unisat, You will be fine upgrading the ROM from an XP machine - it is no problem at all if you follow the instructions. In truth though, the ROM upgrade probably still won't give you the experience you are after... Without wanting to rub it in, the Touch HD is the best phone I have ever used. I miss a hardware keyboard a little and sometimes its responses are a little inaccurate but I think it is a better, more versatile handset than the iPhone and not even on the same page as the Omnia which is for me a total turkey. If I were in your position I would have a look see what I could get for the Omnia on Ebay if it is in good nick, acquire a new one from my service provider on account of some fault that I am sure you could engineer or sell it to the likes of Envirofone, then go out and grit your teeth and buy an HD. I guarantee you won't regret it. Is your Omnia insured? Do you have small children who like to play with it? There are always possibilities (not that I would endorse any of them)....
Guest mr.chow Posted December 31, 2008 Report Posted December 31, 2008 I am having the same problem with this phone. I just got it a few days. I got a Samsun i900 with firmware DXHJ1. Do I need to update the firmware as well? If so, what firmware is stable and will fix this problem? I am very frustrated because I cannot receive phone calls when it's off and I do not have warranty on this phone

Do you have touchpal installed? I had that problem with touchpal. If you hard reset (reset to factory default + clear ALL data) and don't install anything for 1-2 days, you'll probably notice that issue doesn't happen.

I find these opinions absolutely WRONG. I own both a touch HD and an Omnia (although my Omnia's ROM is XBHJ2) and I prefer the Omnia , specially for it genial mini mouse pad and the possiblity to turn to landscape mode with whatever app or program you are using while the HD lets you browse in landscape only if you use opera and the only app usable in landscape mode is one of the photo viewers (no WMP or explorer or anything else). The only issue I had with the Omnia is the lack of voice dialling, now resolved with the installation of Cyberon voice dialler and setting up a soft button to activate it. The Omnia is also much better at music playing (using the same Nokia BT headphones, and is much faster too because touch whiz is not as heavy as touch flo plopped in top of win mobile. Don't get me wrong I love my HD too ,(I often can't decide which to take out in the morning) but overall now (after a couple of tweks and downloads) I prefer my Omnia. One question: which one is the newest ROM? Is my XBHJ2 outdated? P.S. Oh, my Omnia too once went totally dark and froze and revived only after I had removed and then replaced the battery, but it happened only once in the 5 weeks I had it. My HD totally died while loading 3 days after I bought it and had to be replaced (luckily with zero problems) from my seller.
