Where's my GPS data?

Guys,

I am running ROM:MSHJI and have spent weeks getting to the point where all is (was) fine but a few failed backups and a conversation with Sprite identified that I had a corrupt registry. Very strange as all seemed to be workng well. Nevertheless, having finally found a stable ROM, and needing to clear the main memory I decided to hard-reset and restore all apps from scratch. All has gone really well except for not being able to find the GPS feed! I have used Franson GPSgate but no data is arriving. I have tried Visualgpsce but only get a warning that there is something wrong with a communication buffer. I am stumped! Could some kind soul help me to identify the problem? Is there a task that needs starting? I would appreciate any assistance.
