hi guys

i noticed something a little wierd about text messaging with the omnia

when i reply to texts and the threaded messaging screen appears, inputiing texts can sometimes be quite sluggish leading to misspelled words, etc. i think this is due to the fact that the threaded message text input uses non-system fonts.

if i choose a contact from the phone dialler however and enter text through that, i dont go through the threaded messaging screen, and text input is swift and fast, again maybe owing to the fact that system fonts are used here.

my question is, is there a way to toggle system fonts in threaded messaging so that typing there wont be as sluggish.

cheers

Im having the same problem, but it doesnt matter if I have threaded on or off.. still sluggish, almost unwritable if I´m playing music at the same time. This is one of the absolute most annoying things I´ve discovered about the Omnia.... A solution to this one would be awesome...

Hopefully we can get an answer here?

On a related matter, whem doing a lookup in Phonebook the Omnia is incredibly sluggish, whereas doing the same lookup in Contacts is very quick. The phonebook lookup is particularly bad if there are a lot of programs showing as still open in Task manager. Does nayone know a way of speeding up Phonebook lookups?

yes the phonebook is ultra sluggish when in search mode. but it is quick and snappy when scrolling

however i think it is unrelated to the threaded messaging sluggishness though...

You would think that such a new hightech phone would be able to handle 2 simple tasks at once without behaving that way...

It´s really frustrating

try using the phone dialler for testing. it is much more reponsive than threaded messaging

also i saw somewhere that deleting all old sms' will speed responsiveness in threaded messaging.

i am still looking for settings or registry tweaks that will allow me to use system fonts in threaded messaging...

I thought it was me today. I was listening to WMP and texting. I thought is just because I had a low battery (which is a separate issue altogether). I am not as crazy as I thought. Has anyone found a tweak for this on the i900 or the i910 (which I have)?

it might have to do with the keyboard you're using. i noticed some lag when typing with the original samsung keyboard, but i didn't notice much if any with the spb keyboard.

I guess you all use the samsung keyboard, which is crap. Try using a real SIP.

touchpal is the best for me, followed by PCM Keyboard which I used before..

there are others on xda-dev (one is almost as samsung, maybe better didn't try).. opal, diamond, etc.

google will find all of them in no time :)

I have similiar issue. If I'm composing a SMS and a new SMS comes in, it's impossible to continue composing my SMS. I'll have to exit the current one, save to draft and then read the new SMS before returning to compose the original SMS. So I always hope that no SMS comes in while I'm composing a new SMS.

Such an advanced phone and cannot multi-task.

Anyone has similar problem? Any advice from anyone out there?

What roms are you guys using. I am texting and using S2P at this exact moment and I may experience a slight slow down but not enought to warrant being annoying

I agree with artecarion about the inability to continue with an existing sms when a new one comes in. I have tried a variety of roms from stock roms to roms with ported sys and xip and all of them experience the same lag.

the best solution to sluggish texting is deleting old messages.

i have found no solution however to sluggish texting whil listening to mp3s

this really gets quite annoying.

im thinking now of doing the overclock/underclock fix to make the omnia a stablle 500mhz

as some of you may know the omnia has a scalable cpu which goes from 200 to 624 mhz depending on cpu load.

the problem i think is that sometimes the cpu cannot efficiently detect multitasking situations especially when inputs are concerned.

have any of you tried cpu Xscalar?
