Guest Team eg6 Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Hi... New to this forum and have a big problem. I bought a omnia phone of ebay and when i got it i turned it on and it loaded up to the green windows screen so i clicked the screen and it took me to the align screen. I clicked on everyone carefully and its still brings me back to the align screen and does not go any furture..... Please help im stuck
Guest Natsirt Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 Hi and Welcome ^^ Did you click on each cross dead center? or just around it? It will keep asking you to click the screen until you have approximately clicked the same area a few times... i think.. not entirely sure. From my own experience when i first purchased my omnia off ebay I was doing the screen alignment for quite a long time, but it got done in the end. The second time I had to do it, it was done in a few clicks.. then a third and fourth time took more clicks... just keep clicking the center dot of the cross with the stylus and it should be okay...its best not to do it with ur finger nails (which is what i did the very first time and i found that i was pressing something and the thing next to it wouldve got pressed instead)

Guest Team eg6 Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 I will keep clicking then, much appreciated So its definatly not software problem?
Guest Natsirt Posted January 3, 2009 Report Posted January 3, 2009 it shouldn't be a software problem.. if you still cant get past the align screen.. do a hard reset of the phone. I think you can do that by pressing the CALL and END keys under the screen and the power button at the same time (I tried once, and failed, so i'm not sure how this works, but its definately in the forum somewhere). Sorry i cant be of much more help, hope you get through the align screen! =)

Guest Hendrickson Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Hi Sorry to tell you, but you have a faulty screen. It needs to be replaced. I had one just like this and the screen was faulty, it was swapped for a new one.
Guest iclickjohn Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 I was going to start a thread on a similar subject. I have a Verizon Samsung Omnia purchased on Dec. 7th. The crosshairs on the alignment screen must be pushed and held very firmly. I have had a WM 6700 which was three years old and the crosshairs were very simple to calibrate. simple light taps and the crosshairs moved to the next position. Here is my question: For anyone who has purchased a Verizon Samsung Omnia recently, are you pressing and holding quite hard or does it align with light quick taps? I think there is an issue with this, because if my three year old phone aligned so easy, a brand new model should be as good or better. I will be going to the V store Monday to try out a new phone. I've got until the 7th to exchange.
Guest Arselcomm Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 >> Here is my question: For anyone who has purchased a Verizon Samsung Omnia recently, >> are you pressing and holding quite hard or does it align with light quick taps? Greetings I've found the touch-pad alignment of my Verizon Omnia to be very quirky. I actually took my first one back for an exchange, but the new one had the same issue. If you carefully tap the center of the target it doesn't register and appears to stall on the alignment screen. At the store they simply said you needed to press really hard to get it to take. Not liking the idea of punching a hole thru the screen, I played around a bit. In doing so, I found that if you use the stylus to draw a small circle around the center of the target it _will_ calibrate quite easily. The smaller and tighter the circle the more accurate your calibration will be, but just tapping the center will not get the job done. With any luck, it's a bug that will be fixed in the firmware update that's due first half of '09. Hope that helps someone. Robert

I've got until the 7th to exchange. I have found that the trick is to press lightly and hold. I have had several Palm-sized PCs, Pocket PCs, and Win Mobile devices and the Omnia is the first one I've seen that acted this way. A quick tap will often not register. Tap and hold until it moves on to the next position. If you run through the routine several times and it wont align, you might have a sceen problem.
