Guest re.skyn Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 Hey pepps, wanted to ask if there is any software available that allows me to check where my phone is after i've lost it? Discreetly of course, such that the new owner who refuses to return my phone won't know that the program is running in the background. Or is there any other software available that can somehow notify me information regarding the whereabouts of my missing handphone? I once read an article that there was an available software which would send an sms to my number, whenever a new SIM card was inserted into my phone. Thanks!
Guest Yunabeco Posted January 4, 2009 Report Posted January 4, 2009 (edited) W.I.M.P. posted just above, Sprite Terminator from Sprite Software, and there was a free alternative, I think; can't remember its name though. I personally use Sprite Terminator. I find it good enough, the GPS function works well with the Omnia, a bit costy though ($30). Both can: -Send, upon receiving a special SMS from one (or multiple) partnered phone(s), the phone's current GPS coordinates back to the phone who sent it. -Send, upon changing the SIM card, a SMS to one (or multiple) partnered phone(s), this way sending the new number. Terminator can also wipe your phone to clear sensitive data, lock it until the correct password is entered, and retrieve recent call entries and send them to the partnered phone. Obviously, however, they won't work if your phone is shut down, if the battery is removed (or if your phone doesn't have any more power), or if the phone is hard-reset. Unfortunately there isn't a way to lock the phone from being hard reset that I know of. When receiving special SMSes, the phone will not ring, display a notification or add it to the received messages list; however, the backlight will turn on. Edited January 4, 2009 by Yunabeco
Guest Geronymous Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 Check this: http://remotetracker.sourceforge.net/ Free and works great with the Omnia!
Guest mayo98 Posted January 5, 2009 Report Posted January 5, 2009 (edited) All of the above. or You can Try this : SmartProtect Mobile (latest version is 1.1.4) http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=464336 It secures your mobile phone such as : 1. Send SMS to your partner phone the Cell Location or GPS Coordinates when lost 2. Automatically delete contents on your phone, based on the folder you specified that you wish to be protected. 3. Automatically remove your phone contacts 4. Automatically lock your phone when lost or stolen. 5. Send IMSI and IMEI via SMS to your partner phone Another good thing on this software is ability to control your phone via SMS such as : Send SMS to your phone to get GPS Coordinates Send SMS to your phone to wipeout data Send SMS to your phone to remove contacts even reboot your phone and it's free.. Unfortunately there isn't a way to lock the phone from being hard reset that I know of. That is why this sort of software should be included as a standard phone feature by all mobile manufacturers. Samsung has included similar software in some symbian models.
