Hey,

I was just wondering what the average time is you guys have to wait for a GPS fix. I usually wait about 3 minutes using IGO8. However, I saw a guy on youtube, started IGO8 and immediately had a fix (he did start GPSgate before, though).

So, does GPSGate speed things up?

that guy who started igo and found gps satalite immediatly because he was already got the satalite signal when he opened igo at the first b4 he makes the video..

i take about 2minutes to find a gps satalite with google maps...

Same here. With Xtra enabled.

No extra or gps gate just pure satellite its takes 3-4 minutes with igo8. Gps gate is always on that's why he got an instant fix, however when i used it, it conflicted with s2u2 and it drained the battery very quickly.

Well, my xtra is off, so apparently im in the green. The guy in the video hadn't started igo8 before, since when he opened it, I could see the program loading.

@ NickCy, you say you got an instant fix with gpsgate? Did the bat drain come from the conflict between s2u2 and gpsgate, or simply from gpsgate?

Basically it takes 2-3 minutes for gps gate to get the first fix, and since its always on and running in the background (which is why the battery drains quickly) as soon as you open igo8 its gets the sat position from it.

I really don't need a side program anymore. I will need it for TomTom like GPS Proxy and have a immediately fix when starting TT, but for IGO8 I do not need an other program. Extra is enabled. Update it via your internet connection mb that will help.

With IGO8 I have a fix in about 5 seconds.

Could be the rom to but don't think gps is changed in different roms. (DXHL2 from Taril)

however, xtra uses download volume, of which i only have 50mb a month. Used only 4mb this month though, lol.

Also, apprently my provider charges me everytime i use GPS, so i assume if xtra is on, they will charge me. Any thoughts? Thanks

I guess it depends a lot how old is your last fix, and if you've moved since then.

They can't charge you for gps usage unless you have a locked gps and you're using one of their gps programs. They can only charge you for xtra download but they can't know what you're downloading.
