Guest Lucavi Posted January 8, 2009 Report Posted January 8, 2009 (edited) This has been driving me crazy for about a week now so I'm asking for help. I've read through this post, about tethering the i910 with verizon and got nowhere. I have T-MobileWeb ($5.99) for my internet data. It is set up correclty, I can browse the web on the omnia as well as use google maps, e-mail etc. I've tried the built in Internet Connection sharing program on 2 official roms and 2 cooked ones, as well as a various ones from google searches. I've hard reset like 5 times, after installing different .cabs of ICS. I've made sure my activesync settings allow "Data connections and MMS " while connected etc etc. I've even talked to t-mobile and they (amazingly) new what Internet Connection sharing was, and told me that the Data plan I have works with it! They didn't even try to sell me a more expensive plan! When I start ICS and, select USB click connect, connect the USB cord it will display connected on the omnia. WinXP will show a "Local Area Connection (11) is now connected balloon" at 10mbs. All of my onther Internet connections are disconnected. If someone with the same situation as mine has this working, could you please post the files you used? Even if it works without the USB and only WMwifirouter. Any help anyone can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks so very much!! Update: Using the program ICSControl from XDA devolpers, I can share my Omnia's WIFI internet connection via USB, but when using the GPRS connection I still get the above error. Not really all that useful since most laptops have built in wifi. Update 01-27-09: It turns out that T-mobile has a new Access Point Name (APN) that works with Internet Connection sharing via USB and doesn't require switching your browser's proxy settings to t-mobile's 216.155.165.50 proxy. The new Access Point Network (APN) is "epc.tmobile.com"! No need to go through a proxy. May not be avaiable in all areas. My topic on it here. Edited February 22, 2009 by Lucavi

In your firefox, go to Tools>Options>Advanced>Network>[Connections]Settings, select manual proxy settings, and add 216.155.165.50 for HTTP proxy, 8080 for Port then select "Use this proxy for all protocols" you should be able to browse after this. when youre not tethering, change the setting back to "No Proxy"
Guest Lucavi Posted January 9, 2009 Report Posted January 9, 2009 \ Sorry if this is out of topic. but i am trying to get my phone wifi to connect to my laptop via USB. because there is smth wrong wif my laptop's connection. therefore i need it urgently. can you share how you get your omnia settings done in ICScontrol? and is there anything u have to do on your computer? Appreciate alot if you can help me. I got the OMnia's wifi to share via USB by following directions in Post #2 in this thread. Wifi Sharing You'll need to download ICS control onto your phone and run it. Follow the directions exactly. The part in the post about setting "public interface" to be the wifi adapter, on [the] omnia [is] JaguarGSP1, choose "Private Interface" to be "RNDISFN1" part is the key. There shouldn't be anything you have to do on your desktop computer. I will try editing the proxy with firefox when i wake up. Thanks!

It worked! It worked! It worked! It worked! It worked! It worked! It worked! It worked! Thank you thank you thank you!!! Thank you thank you thank you!!!Thank you thank you thank you!!! Talk about a fantastic first post! It was so simple, in retrospect! I was going to reply to you via the tethered omnia's connection, but... oddly enough Modaco always times out via ICS on the Omnia. Odd. Every other site I use works like a charm! Thanks again very much!!!! update: Here are,for everyone, are instructions to setup Internet Explorer 7 for use with a proxy, because not everyone is smart enough to use Firefox its built in with windows it is useful to know: Internet explorer 7: Tools> options> connections> LAN Settins> "Proxy server" Click use a proxy server... type in 216.155.165.50 in the "Address" box and 8080 in the "port" box Advanced> Click "Use same proxy for all ..." When not tethering just deselect the box "Use a proxy server..." Edited January 9, 2009 by Lucavi
