I just got my Omnia i900 yesterday.

PDA & CSC : I900XXHJ1HJ1/XFHJ1HJ1

PHONE : I900XXHI5

When i turn it on it automatically connects to HSDPA, why is this? I'm on Orange RO Network. How can i prevent auto connects like this from happening?

THanks!

There may be different reasons for your Omnia to connect to HSDPA. When you have got an e-mail account setup there was a question how many times it should sync. Initially it is set to every two hours. The first time set up an account I overlooked it and was also quite surprised to see G3 or HSDPA turned on. In my case I do not have a problem because I've got an unlimited Internet subscribtion with my provider.

If in you do not have this and are afraid of huge bills then search for the following program: nodata , This program is made by Paul MPV one of the moderators of Modaco. You will find it in a thread named "Paul's favourite programs for the Omnia" or something like that.

This program will probably be your best protection.

Ok, here's the link to the thread

call button -> enter blw *#1546792*# then dial~ u can see the administrator setting menu.

change as u want!

*#1546792*# - (Executes \Windows\AdminSettings.exe) Shows the Administrator Settings menu. In there:

1.Version - Shows a menu where you can access the version numbers for thePDA and the Software (redirects to the Settings Version applet)

2.Preconfiguration - Password is *#81230*#. Allows to preconfigure theOmnia Operator settings by changing the country and operator. Note:Changing this will hard-reset the device. This won't lock the devicewith the specified operator.

3. Network-Call Setting:

>1. Power On Attach: (Attach [default] or Detach) ???

>2. Service Domain: (Combined [default], CS or PS) Changes which service domain to use.

>3. Network mode: (Auto [default], GSM or WCDMA) Changes the data connexion mode. WCDMA is 3G.

>4.Network order (Auto [default], GSM first, WCDMA first or No change)Changes which mode to try first when connecting, with Network Mode onAuto.

4. Internal - Password is unknown. I'm not sure what it does.

Doesn't the Madoco NoData app solve the problem in a heartbeat?

Hi and thanks for your replies!

I've hard reseted the device with the send & reject buttons method and the problem now seems to be gone.

I indeed had an email address configured although i've set it to never automatically check for new mail... i really dont know what was causing it, but i will configure the email account again and see if it will still happen. I hope not

Regards!

Try this, I found this solution on this site some time ago

Using a reg editor program,

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Comm\ConnMgr\Planner\Settings\

Find the entry called... SuspendResume. Change the string from ~GPRS! to GPRS_bye_if_device_off

Find the entry called... CacheTime. Change the value from 258 (my system default) to 60 (my preferred). This is amount of time in seconds.

This turns GPRS off after 60 secs of inactivity
