Guest das_spektakel Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 Hi, I have discovered a small bright spot on Omnia's touchscreen and it seems to be "by design" (have seen this on three different devices). What I'm wondering is: Why??? You can see this spot on your Omnia easily: Just choose a white background, the spot should appear on the lower left part of the touchscreen (~1,8cm from left, ~5,3cm from above) any suggestsions? thanks :)
Guest bpivk Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 I don't have a white spot anywhere on my mobile. I noticed a blue dot on it but i checked and it was just a walpaper issue.
Guest dopeness Posted January 15, 2009 Report Posted January 15, 2009 I don't have a white spot anywhere on my mobile. I noticed a blue dot on it but i checked and it was just a walpaper issue. I had this same problem. I did not notice it for a day. Then, when I watched a movie there was a tiny white dot on the screen that never moved. It was small but annoying. Especially when I was watching dark movies like Underworld and Babylon A.D.. I had to take it back becasue there was nothing that they could do.

I went to my local store where i got it from, they dident know how to "take care of the problem". When they told me to call samsung, i just walked away. No way im calling samsung, that just creats more problems. God knows where thay will ship it then. :) Have any off you people problems with the battery hatch? it's abit to smal in the area size, and mine is also to "big" so the "thingis" inside the battery hatch wont fitt prop. Strage sounds can be created by pressing on the opposid side from the cam. Hope u can understand. :)

It is a small problem (literally) but it can become really irritating if you look at movies a lot.
Guest das_spektakel Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Don't get me wrong, it is not a pixel problem, the spots diameter is approx: 5mm and it is always a little bit brighter than the rest of the screen - no matter which color is being shown. Due to the fact that my and the device from two colleagues (different shipping charge, different vendor) has this spot, it must have something to do with the technical design (maybe a chip behind this location produces more heat and influences the display? Goto System Settings -> System -> Brightness -> Manual full power -> the bright spot should appear on the lower part of the display cheers :)

Yeh i have the bright spot also, but i dont care aboute that. It's the dead pixel i want gone. :D
Guest das_spektakel Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Thanks for confirmation! You should use the omnia's guarantee - a viewable dead pixel is not ok!!!! cheers

Guest leighaus Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 i have it too, i mainly notice it when i open up opera and theres the blank default homepage (white)... its just a bright spot, about a pinkie finger press size (5mm as u said)... have also wondered if it was just me... i was considering just replacing the screen myself, as im running custom roms (Even though it was like it prior they would probably claim its my fault)... but it may be another problem.
Guest MrJoneswii Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 I don't see any bright pots on my touchscreen. I've been starring at it for days and still didn't notice it.
Guest dionhere Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 Guys answers!! The bright spot is caused by the intern GPS in the phone... I called to Samsung and they said the spot on the phone is on 1/4 of all the phones that have been made.. Sorry for my English, not that good xD

Guest lambi1982 Posted January 18, 2009 Report Posted January 18, 2009 I had the same problem and ended up getting a replacment. it was about the size of a US dime. I thought it was an LED lit screen and it was just brighter there, but that wasn't the case. I could only deal with it for under a month and now the new one is "hot spot free"
Guest fraktarn Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 I have it too. Did anyone more got a replacement for this?
Guest futureboycolin Posted January 28, 2009 Report Posted January 28, 2009 dang... wish i hadn't noticed this! haha now i can't look away from it.

It's really a design flaw, but also a weakness of these type of screens.
