Guest 3shirts Posted January 16, 2009 Report Posted January 16, 2009 Hi There is a program called BrainZapr that provides you to make meditations, get to sleep, relief headache... like that... http://www.brainzapr.com/ I am really curious about it. I am goign to try it and lets see if it works or not... Waiting for your replies... Just tried it for the first time this morning after installing yesterday. I only did the 5m Euphoria program but I do feel perkier. Could be a placebo effect and I need to test it more but it seemed quite good. I think the key is to read the info (press the question mark button) to get the most out of it.
Guest daskalos Posted January 17, 2009 Report Posted January 17, 2009 It may work, here's a little bit of science.... Well, studies show that our brain produces electrical pulses that can be measure via EEG (Electroencephalograph) and plotted like waves (thus the term brain wave). "Brain waves" vary depending on our brain activity, when we are awake and active the brain shows Beta waves,Delta Waves when in deep sleep and Alpha Waves when relaxed,in meditation and between sleeping and awakening. So logically, if these waves can be induced instantly or in a short amount of time, one may be alert, relaxed or sleep at will... Now what does the info above have to do with Brainzapr The app generates a special kind of audio called binaural beats, you can notice that the sound produce on the left earpiece has a different pitch from the right, and this special audio may affect brain waves...whoa how? When you listen binaural beats, you could actually hear 3 sound? Bi- but then 3? But there are only two earpieces that produce two distinct audio.... Actually ,even if you are not aware, our brain will recognize 3 sounds from listening through binaural beats; the left sound, the right sound and the combination of the two sounds. Because the brain analyzes the sound from the left and right ear, it will percieve a combination of the two sounds, thus making us hear some sort of "beats" (notice that if you only listen a single earpiece, neither left or the right, it will just sound as a straight tone...listening to them both produces the "beating tone"). Now the interesting part is, studies shows that the "imaginary" beats, at the right frequency, can alter brain waves, thus inducing the brain to produce alpha, beta, or even delta waves... but again how? Remember a high school experiment where you put 2 identical tuned tuning forks standing in an open box facing each other and hitting one will make the other vibrate too? Or if you're once a member of the choir and rehearsing with the piano, the strings of the piano will vibrate as you and the piano hit the same note at the same time The "beats" may do the same way too to brain waves. You see the "beats" are imaginary, an imaginary sound interpreted by the brain, which means, a set of electrical activity is working to produce that "imaginary" sound. And the "imaginary" beating sound is monotonous, which means a uniform pulsing of electrical current in the brain which is necessary to continously "identify" the imaginary sound. This uniform pulsing of electricity generated by the "imaginary beat" affects brainwave activity. The monotonous pulsing of electric current makes the current electric pulses in the part of the brain that deals with conciousness pulse to adapt. Because a certain brainwave has a standard electrical pulse and the "beat" ,at a certain frequency, has a certain electrical pulse the same as a natural induced brainwave, the continous exposure to the generated "beats" makes the current brainwave activity to gradually adapt to it and become in sync thus making the brain pulse to a specific brain wave; Alpha, Beta or Theta. Simply, the trick to make Brainzapr to work, is to be "soaked" into the third sound...
