Guest 3shirts Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 Well here is my potted review (based on very brief testing). It is a pretty simple app that intercepts your incoming SMS messages, shows them on screen on a simple white background and reads them aloud. Once installed you can run the app itself which opens the main screen or you can call it with various switches to invoke different functions. I created three in my programs menu for 'start minimised', 'disable' and 'quit' and I copied the 'start minimised' one to the startup menu. It works pretty well and the voice is clear though it's emphasis is a bit off so it can be hard to understand long sentences. There are no configuration options so you can't choose things like read speed, pitch, delay before reading etc which is a bit of a shame as the standard settings need tweaking in my opinion. There is also no way to make it re-read the message which for me is the deal breaker. What it really needs is few on screen buttons for re-read and speed control and maybe some voice options such as pitch or voice type. It's a decent start and for free is worth a punt but it hasn't been updated since 2007 so it doesn't look like a new version is on the way. The hunt continues

Yes the text thing works it reads the out which is bad LOL i turned that off as i had a Text from the Mrs at work which was slightly personal :D but when i get rang dosent speak??? do you need to edit contacts or tones or anything?
