When will online widgets be stable

Hi i've been experimenting with the HL and the new IA roms and i have to say i really like the new online widgets but it slows everything up so much that i've reverted back to the standerd widgets. Does anyone have any ideas about making things run a bit more smoothly.

And also is there any way of creating my own widgets, i've got so many ideas for what i'd like.
