just to update i have flashed now with the latest UK firmware from the samsung website, think its so much better than the t-mobile rubbish it came with.

but still would like to know if custom firmware will rid me of the stupid ring protection put in place (starts low goes to high).

Can anyone with a custom FW confirm if there omnia is free of it.

thanks :)

Sorry mate. I've had several official and custom ROMS (currently using M2D04) and they all suffer from that 'feature'

Hi deckio007, please could you PM/POST where you got the firmware from on the Samsung site? I've been trying for days searching on there and even emailed them but not had any joy. The samsungmobile site requests my version number and then says I've entered an invalid version. I have the exact same version as yours and it is with T-Mobile.

Thanks in advance.

Yeah I looked at the source code of the site and found that with would accept two versions but the BO was commented out and if I went to the BO page, the links weren't active. Do you mind posting what version you are now running? Thanks.

Thanks for getting back to me deckio. I had actually taken a guess and downloaded the MSHJ1. I'll probably install it tonight or over the weekend once I've disabled all other USB devices, remove SE suite, disabled wireless, rebooted, charged the phone etc :) Can't chance bricking this phone. I'll just die.
