Guest 3shirts Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 I have started using Microsoft Voice Command and when it reads out texts it does the name as LAST, FIRST which sounds unnatural when you hear it, also I'd just prefer them the other way round. Can the phonebook be made to display names FIRST LAST without having to butcher the contacts and put the names in the wrong fields?
Guest jeffrey2000 Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) I have started using Microsoft Voice Command and when it reads out texts it does the name as LAST, FIRST which sounds unnatural when you hear it, also I'd just prefer them the other way round. Can the phonebook be made to display names FIRST LAST without having to butcher the contacts and put the names in the wrong fields? Sure it's possible but not from the omnia contact program, so go to: "start / programs / contacts" (windows mobile contact) select the contact and edit it and you'll se the option: "file as" with a dropdown box which allows you to choose the way how you want it to display: "first last", "last, first", "Company", "Last, first (Company)" or "(company) last, first" and after it will be shown just like that in the Samsung contacts aswell. Guest 3shirts Posted January 19, 2009 Report Posted January 19, 2009 (edited) Thanks, I googled that and found this from good ol XDA-Dev: Raj Pillai solved the "First Name, Last Name" problem by writing a free Outlook plug-in. I've used it with no problems. It's *very easy* and convenient. Instructions: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/raj/FileAs.html The App: http://www.pocketpcfaq.com/raj/Downl...leAsSorter.zip You double-click to install this plugin. Then, you open your Outlook Contacts, click "File As Sorter" in the toolbar, and it will ask you how you want to sort your contacts. Click "First, Last" and voila! I then re-sync'd to my phone and all is well. Edited January 19, 2009 by 3shirts

I hope this one does all contacts at once... here's a screenshot of the program which 3shirts found.
