call log issue i900

I have an issue with my call log. If the incoming phone call is not in my contact list, the caller id is listed as "private" in the log. I know for a fact that some of the calls are no from caller id blocked numbers. Has anyone else come across this issue or know of a fix?

I am located in Australia, the phone is an unlocked overseas model, now on the 3 mobile network. I initially thought that perhaps there was some network setting I hadnt enabled, but I cant find anything that would seem to explain the issue.
