Guest balderthanmost Posted January 21, 2009 Report Posted January 21, 2009 Good afternoon, good evening or good night, wherever you may all be :) New member here. Can anyone help me please? My Omnia currently has 4 preset alarm tones (Samsung, Serene, Spanish Guitar and Sunny Day) Is there anyway I can add on to these to include my own MP3's, ringtones etc? I'm getting a bit fed up of waking to the same boring tone! Thanks in advance.

Guest Woody56 Posted January 22, 2009 Report Posted January 22, 2009 (edited) Hey mate, good Question! I was also wondering the same thing AS WELL as how to change the sms/mms/email message alert tones. There all .MP3 files located in \Windows. I used thet trial ver. of wavepad to edit my own. http://nch.com.au/index.html btw I amplify a clip to double volume (200%) and now even when my omnia is in a case in my pocket I hear it loud and clear with no distortion :) Edited January 22, 2009 by Woody56
Guest Diggedy Posted February 2, 2009 Report Posted February 2, 2009 Ive sussed the alarm tone problem, in a fashion. The mp3`s have to be converted to wavs and then copied into the windows folder. However, wavs are massive, so what i now need to know is what registry entry do i change to point it at a new folder?
Guest jcacuracl Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 The Samsung Alarm work with all mp3's. All you have to do is use your direction pad and slide your finger up/down to find what mp3 ringtone you want. There is not scroll bar, that why you need to use the direction pad to view your ringtone. There is not need your files to wav file. Also, you can save the file anywhere there is no need to save it to the main memory. Have fun, Good Luck!
Guest twylyt Posted February 3, 2009 Report Posted February 3, 2009 just put your mp3 tones in the 'My Storage' folder as is then when you go to 'sounds & notifications', in the 'notifications' tab, choose the event (eg: phone/sms/reminders) you wish to assign your new mp3 tones to hope that's clear and helpful :)
Guest nujackk Posted February 4, 2009 Report Posted February 4, 2009 (edited) Ok Found Answer in another thread. You need to save the files you would like to use as ringtones on my storage outside of a folder, will then show up in the drop down list to choose. Goodluck Edited February 4, 2009 by nujackk
Guest rayth Posted February 7, 2009 Report Posted February 7, 2009 (edited) I cannot find /windows folder in my Omnia. Anywhere can post that thread? Thanks in advance. Edited February 7, 2009 by rayth

Goodluck You can put your ringtones in the "My Ringtones" folder under My Device, and Omnia see them. But for the alarm tones, I could not find the cure. I understand the current alarm tones are in the ROM. Putting the new ones under "Windows" or else does not work at all.

I do have Alarm 5 available from the drop down menu but its so frustrating.. Ok guys.. Seems I found a solution... When trying to set up my alarm I was going into Settings/System/Clock & Alarms.. from there i would click on Alarms and was trying to setup alarm on there.. Well i was never able to get the sounds to work on here. As a matter of fact once i turned the alarm on, it wouldnt even show the alarm symbol on main screen.. If any of you are having this same problem.. Simply do the following.. Instead of trying to setup alarm thru Clock & Akarms..You can simply click on your CLOCK on the main screen or under Programs. This will show up as World Clock.. hit the down arrow to get Alarms, Memorial Day, World Clock and Stoop Wach Options.. Select Alarms.. Click new.. After that you are set.. Set your alarm details as you wish.. Here it does allow you to select your mp3s no matter where they are at.. I believe the main issue why some users where able to set their ringtones and others not is because we where trying to setup the Alarm in two different sections of the phone.. I hope this helps those who might still be having this issue.. B)
