Guest Calle Haldin Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 This must be a really stupid question cause a can't find any forum threads about it =) but how do i safety remove the USB connection from Omnia? i can't find it in "safely remove hardware" should it be there or am i suppose to just yank the cord out like iv been force to do so far? hope you know the answer.
Guest MrCRB Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 Depends on your setting in the "USB Connection Mode" entry on Omnia. If your device is set to "ActiveSync" you don't have the "remove hardware" option, if you set the function to "Mass storage" then you do.

Guest bpivk Posted January 23, 2009 Report Posted January 23, 2009 AS needs a AS software and is used to Sync your device and your phone is actually connected to your computer so you can use 3rd party apps to manage your phone. Mass storage works like a standard usb drive (portable disks, usb keys,...)

I allways just unplug the device, usb key... and nothing happend so far. The only reasons to use "safetly remove hardware" is if you transfer data to the device. Then you can get corrupt data. Windows 2000 had thad problem, thad they didnt`t release usb key after data transfer.

Well new devices aren't so hard to brake but i still don't recommend doing this on phones or mp3 because you never know if they are still in use because they usually don't have a blinking led or something similar to notify you (total commander refreshes constantly on my computer and that corrupted some files on my portable disk).
