Hey guyz!

Well I have my Omnia since August, but! i have never tried the GPS option. Well the thing is that I'm currently living in Latin America and theres no maps I guess or programs, or at least I dnt know.

My main question is, since im living here, is there a possible way for me to try my GPS with some program or something, If so, can you guyz help me how can I do it because I have never dealt with any GPS device before so it would be very very thankful of you. Please If you have an idea how can I test it or try it out please tell me what program should I use or try or what to do, please!

Thankx guyz!

:)

I'm sure that there are applications that can use your GPS to tell you your coordinates. I did a quick google search but couldn't find anything. maybe someone else knows one.

I also found out that Garmin is the best GPS software to use in Latin America.

Well I installed the program and it shows the compass and all that, but is all blank, and when i press GPS On it gives me an error saying that Connection to GPS failed. I really dnt have any expirience conecting GPS devices so I really dnt know what to do to make it work, probly It needs a base GPS program like Garmin or I dnt know :s any suggestions?

google map was not accurate because it didn't have GPS coordinates yet (then it uses GSM antennas location mode). You need to activate GPS in options, then wait for it to actually retrieve their positions (it will be written at top-right).

It can take a VERY long time at first try (up to 30minutes, if the phone does not go into standby), then it will be quicker :)

ps: amaze GPS is also a good one

ps2: every free GPS needs an internet connection to retrieve map's data !

I've never tried that program before, so I have no idea.

Also something to keep in mind. Using the GPS while your inside is very difficult. It's better to go outside. if you have WIFI in your house, use Google maps.

Also, lastnikita, I've never been able to use my GPS with Google Maps because it took way to long to find a signal. Does it always take so long, or only the first time?

no worries mate, and don't forget the GSM part (phone) must be turned on for the GPS to work.

edit: oh and as MrJoneswii stated you should go outside, will be way faster.

@MrJoneswii: well theoretically it should be long only the first time you launch any GPS app, then it should be fast for that app or any other... but iGo / googlemap / others take different delays to acquire GPS data, I don't know why...
