question about rom

First I want to thank all for such a great forum to learn. Now here is were I need some help please to insure I am doing this right.

I want to update my rom, this is what I have right now

pda i900DXHG3/DXHg3

phone i900DXHG3

windows mobile 6.1 professional

Tmobile - USA

I want to update to newest rom DXHJ1( is this correct one)

From what I have read I need to use xp and install samsung modem driver and down load rom, all wich I have done except install modem

(1)Now I install samsung modem,

(2)plug in phone without sim, card installed

(3) double click on rom and dont touch until finished, is this correct and all I have to do.

Also will I lose all my us tmobile settings and have to reinstall them. i did a sprite back up about a week ago.

I am sorry I have to ask just very confused on correct way. first time I had a phone like this.

If this is wrong can you please give me proper steps. Wish there was a step by step guide for dummies like me :)

Apologies for a late reply, missed this post.

You will lose your tmobile settings so they need to be re-entered again.

As for flashing the device what you are describing sounds like the normal correct way. I do not own an Omnia myself so can not give step by step instructions.

I would suggest you think about wether you actually need to update your ROM, too many people update for the sake of it rather than the necessity.

If you are unsure about the upgrade process and do not feel confident about doing it it may be more advisable not to do it.
